View Full Version : Custom cam tune
Here is the Dyno print out from the SS' surgery.
I, in one hit, got a custom cam, 918 valve springs, 25% underdriven
pully, 3.73 diff gears and of course a full custom edit of the PCM.
I was more then happy with the end result.

Hey Troy,
What I find most interesting here is your pre-tune figure of 197rwkw. They say autos loose more power to the wheels so you would expect your figure to be lower than mine with a M6 VYSS ... mine was 184rwkw.
Gotta love factory consistancy !!!
Is yours a Series I or II ... if it's a Series I it's even worse as I am pretty sure they bumped power from 235 to 245 when they went from Series I VY to Series II VY, although I may have my models mixed up.
Anyway, they after graph sure looks good, especially that high 600 odd Nm of torque. :D
cheers,
Nick
451 AM, man you get up early!!
The SS is a series II. I was really happy with the numbers stock and very very happy with the after Cam numbers. 657nm, very happy.

You had a "good one" from the start.Wasn't made on a friday arvo thats for sure...lol
The VT2 LS1 took me far more dollars to get near your set up.

im only 1kw away :(
did u install the stallie yet ???
JB, I get what ya mean mate, should have got ot first time :lmao:
Nahhh Mick stally didnt go in as I got booked speeding the night before the install and the fine was the price of the install cost so Sonny sold it for me the next day in a two person bidding fest at his workshop :lmao:
Might think about a stall again someday but being more track inclined these days I dont want to.
I should get a M6 actualy hmmmm:headbang:

Troy, I thought you were also heading down the Yank SSxxxx route?
Yes youre correct Mitta E but although Yank is cheaper, by the time it gets here its the same price as a Dominator and for warrenty you have to send it back to the USA.

Troy :)
I had never driven one before.Had the 3200 installed with 3.7's and basically
got in the car and drove it without really noticing it was there except for
extra noise from exhaust. But i did run a 13.2 on a totally stock engine
With cam fit first thing i learnt was WOT from a standing start is useless
will just shred your tyres.
Midrange power is fantastic. In 3rd gear powermode sitting anywhere between
60 to 100kmh if you floor it,it kicks back to 2nd flashes to 3200 rpm and just
takes off and accelerates like mad.To me this is where i find the stall works best and is worth its every cent.
Very, very streetable. In traffic it is not a problem at all just feather the throttle and off you go.Somedays i wish i got 3600 now to get me up more
in the powerzone but i can live with my 3200.
Also nothing wrong with a dominator. They've been around for a long time and will do the same job.
Look forward for your report when you get your stall.

I use to be all about drivers drive manuals bla bla bla, but after experincing a coupld of Auto's with stallies, my goodness, its like they should be from the factory, smoother in traffic, easy to get moving without a hint of jerking, just smooth as, but on throttle  I still find it amazing that so many people think that they are not smooth on the street, which is probably the way it was 10+ ago

Last week the wife and I drove to Sydney, and while I was there I had my car booked in with Sonny to get a cam job for my ute.
I got the new cam, 921 springs, and tune. The car made a best of 259kW's with an OTRCAI.
Now I need my own OTRCAI, 25%undriven pulley and some 3.7's to top it off.
The cam was the same as Troy's for people wondering. I do not know the spec's.
