As some of the older LS1 crew may know, ive been running Skidpan days at Eastern Creek on and off for a number of years with the help of Aaron McGill from Automotion.

Now I've been trying for some time to get dates from Eastern Creek to hire the Skidpan, which is getting ever increasingly hard. With Oran Park closing down (the skidpan there is not exactly first class either) and EC wanting to run its own driving school and lock all the other driving schools out, its resulted in EC informing us that 2010 is Completely booked out for any weekends. Id imagine within a few months the same will be for 2011.

This is a real kick in the teeth for the prospect of giving people a chance to learn the limits of there vehicles in a safe and responsible environment. With the lack of venues in Sydney (only 1 now), it basically means EC, or rather the ARDC who has management rights, is locking all the competition out.

So in short, if anyone here happens to be bored, it sitting on a nice slush fund of dollars, etc. Then now would be the time to look at opening a driver training facility within Sydney.

Just wait for a wet weekend and use the rooftop parking at Westfield.

You talking about the Maroolan (spelling?) Driver Training Centre? I asked Aaron about that and he said "its like a goats track, it makes Oran Park look like a 1st class facility in comparison".

In the ARDC newsletter it mentions that eastern creek is flat-out for 2010 with the demise of OP. Bad luck mate. Wouldn't have minded some skid-pan action.

A lil birdy tells me that OP has been surveyed up the wazoo with the intention of reproducing it else where in the state, bridge, pits & all!
I really dont know how true it is,but this birdy is pretty close to the OP underworld lol.
I wonder when WSID will get wind of the EC predicament & build a bigger & better one of their own? Plenty of room there for one.....
Ryan whats the chances of a night time skid pan? If the lighting was "supplied".

Dont think so mate. Perhaps you might buy these and do it yourself. http://www.oranpark.com.au/for_sale.html
There was talk of Wilton but I think there are too many housing developments going ahead in that area now.
