Hey Phil. Have you checked out SAU? There's a tonne of info on there. Might be a good place to ask as well as here.

From the blokes that used to race them up here oil temp and oil surge were majors. Killed engines fast. I know of 3 cars that came once for a fun days at hidden valley and never came back due to engine failure. Shame as they were quick.
Seems the same over and over with the blokes that come down. With some minor mods to fix the basic problems it would be fine.
thx for the replies guys checking the website out now.

Phil get to the next Supersprint at EC (March 7) and talk to Stuart Inwood, he's got an R32 and R33 - he's a front runner at the sprints and hillclimbs, a real racer type of guy, no BS. You might also catch up with Duncan Handley (username Duncan on SAU). Start with those guys i reckon.

I had my r33 for almost 4 years - maybe did 15+ track days in it over that time.
it was 100% stock when I bought it then modified the shit out of it (suspension and brake wise)
I had 255rwkw when I sold it with a GT-RS turbo.
I had minimal bolt on mods. (FMIC, exhaust)
I had ECU and oil cooler and catch can.
it was always serviced well. had stock, unopened motor.
never had any issues on track.
if its well serviced and tuned - remember, look after the car and it'll look after you!
do they make good track cars?
how big is your budget??
mine wasnt the quickest one out there....it was fun!
to go quicker I would have had to spend alot more on it.
Duncan from SAU has built up a very compitive r32 GTR. I think last year though has gone through 3-4 engine rebuilds....its expensive but when on track - very quick!!
if you just want to do some track days, skylines are awesome fun. just gets expensive to go quicker hence why I sold mine and bought my mx5. its 2 seconds slower @ wakefield (skyline did 1.13.001 in the dry and the mx5 did 1.15.1 on a damp track)
OP best I could do was 1.28.4 in the r33, and 1.27.2 in the mx5.
I feel I can get the mx5 into the 1.12's with more seat time.
wow long post!!

Looking at the value side of things it's hard to justify thousands of dollars extra for a second or two. It really doesn't feel all that much faster and you can get more grins from a smaller capacity engine revving the crap out of it.
