Scotty spotted this out at Eastern Creek yesterday ... I'm leaving it big so you can see the detail;

I reckon it's going to look fantastic ... can't wait to see the official pics.
:waving:
Looks great :)
Hopefully they can be competitive right from the first round this year

Excellent pic. Top effort from TrackChats own Jimmy Olsen. Thanks for posting NickHAT.
It looks like their transporter if you look closer. I think you're looking at the inside of the transporter door hence why it's white.
Above the door looks like the end of the word VODAPHONE.
Interesting ... first real snap shot of a 888 Commodore. The internet genius' over at LS1 would have a field day picking that apart.
Certainly doesn't look like a pig on that grill. Hopefully a Commodore might make it onto Roary the racing car.

Dave,
I have been lucky enough over the years to be in a fair few V8 teams transporters.......and believe me....inside does not look like that..and yes the outside does look like it has VODAFONE on it...but its a mess.....The transporters are always spotless now....fully painted floors..and certainly nothing sitting on the ground! Everything has a very exact place and is always put away...not just lying infront of the race car! And 2 churns of fuel........I dont think so.......
Just my observation and opinion though......

I think you're both right ... it looks like a Vodafone truck of some sort but it's clearly not "THE" transporter. There is no way the official 888 transporter would look like that on the inside.
More than likely weren't after the sort of attention that the official transporter would attract ???
Hahaha that looks like the inside of a carneys truck :D

Looks good from what can be seen. Briefly heard on the radio this morning that Lowndes would be running Bathurst with Skaife this year? That'd be interesting!

exactly. so it was at the track, did they run it? what sort of day was it at the track, practice day?

I think they're only able to do the one practice day before the year begins which is the set day for all teams which is in Feburary at QR or for the Victorian teams is at Winton??
I would think it is possibly one of their ride cars or V8 Superschool type car - slightly modified SS for people to have a go in their colours.

Motorsport Enews had a pic of the car being revealed at EC. So I presume there was no driving just a media activity.

... plus confirmed that Lowndes co-driver for the enduros is Skaife.
How many Holden fanboys will become 888 fanboys now? :D
Am loving the slightly overhauled artwork very much

I've always been a 888 fan ... just didn't like the shell they used for the car.

Probably the same ones that have been Craig Lowndes followers all along & didn't give a crap about what badge his car wore. :D

I agree,
There are some drivers whom you would support no matter what they drove, and I think Lowndsey is one of them.
I am sure the are a bundle of Ford fans who will either openly or secretly support his success with Holden.
I think it shows how he relates to people etc...

Well said boys....Support drivers for there driving not their cars!
And besides...all 888 needed to do was bolt the holden panels on the existing chassis anyway....They are exactly the same underneath!
:hide:
This is exactly my point fellas! Glad to see you agree :)
In my younger years I was a dead set fan of larry perkins.. When Craig came onto the scene I became a fan and when he first went from Holden to Ford I did not care and I don't care that he's back in a Holden!
That said, I know two guys I worked with at makita that as soon as they found out he was going back wrote him off and decided they hated him.. Sad...
Good stuff!

Well iv always hated him, i think he is very over rated and in his last few years has become quite a dirty/unsportsman like driver.
Dont care if he drives a holden or ford.

Couldn't disagree more ... you don't win 4 Bathurst's, 3 Championships and finish in the top 5 for the last 5 straight years if you don't have talent. There is nothing over rated about Lowndes.
I also don't think he is "dirty" at all, he is aggressive but I'd never call his driving "dirty".

That the good thing about having your own opinion, not everyone has to agree with it:cheers: . Half the field of drivers could have matched his results given the same car and team.

... and 888 could have signed any of them in a second, but they want Lowndes, that's gotta say something.

Interesting discussion re drivers.
I had a drink with Paul Radisich (spelling?) many years ago at The Knickerbocker Hotel in Bathurst after the big race. I asked him who the best driver was his reply went something like this.
"There is only a fraction of a difference between all the top drivers. Given a top team and top car, most can and will win. The test of a top driver is someone who can be told by their team tactician to go out and run consistent 1.05.5's (or whatever) for then next five laps and then nail those times exactly.
If you ask me who the best at doing this is, I would have to say John Bowe."
Personally I think anyone that has made it to the pointy end of V8's (or any leading motorsport category) must have their head screwed on pretty well. And that goes for the entire field. I would trade my left nut just to sweep the floors for any of them. How cool would it be to make a living being involved in a pro motorsport team.

All of which doesn't really matter when it comes to measuring talent.
Anyone who can make it onto ROARY THE RACING CAR as a character must be talented.
I've always liked him and his pet eyebrows ;) and was a lilttle sad when he went to Ford but applauded any results he achieved.
No question as to how good he is.

Dunc, if you really wanna get rid of your left nut im sure i could get you into a team....I know the Kelly's very well...so i dont think it would be a problem!
