I just wanted to take a minute and say a massive thanks to the NSW Ambulance Service.

My wife had a nasty fall today as a result of a Seizure/Fit of sorts, which resulted in a very rushed call to 000 for Help.

In less than 5 minutes, the Ambos were by my side helping me with my wife.

They are the most helpful people imaginable, completely calm the whole time, talking softly with my wife trying to check her for any obvious damage from the fall, and reassure her in the confused state she was left in after the Seizure/Fit.

So a massive thanks to the Ambos, and remember next time see them coming up behind you with lights flashing, get out of there way, as the next time it could be you waiting on them.

The good news also is there was no major damage except for some bruising on her chest and eye from the fall and she is back home relaxing now.

Also having done a very comprehensive First Aid course, the training was vital to me today, resulting in me having the confidence and not panicking, supporting her through the fit and clearing the area of any dangers, and getting her in the recovery position asap afterwards so her breathing wasnt affected. I cant recommend highly enough that everyone take the time to do a first aid course so if your ever presented with a situation like today, your as prepared as possible.

Good to hear things are ok, even with the training I’m sure it was a worrying situation. As you said Kudos to the ambos for doing what they do best.

Shit mate ... that must have been scary. Hope Ali is on the mend, give her our best.

I'll 2nd the First Aid course recommendation too ... we did one when the kids where little, it's amazing what you learn and how the smallest things can make a huge difference to the outcome in an emergency.

Really happy to click on this thread and read that there was no real harm done.

Not sure what the government is teaching our kids today but when I went for my license in the mid '90's there wasn't a heck of a lot in the way of 'what to do when fire/police/ambo approaches you from ANY direction'. Far too often I see people panic or do nothing when emergency services drive past. It frustrates me to no end.

On top of this I really don't think it's wise to draft these guys. In my younger years we used to talk up drafting but it's a silly practise that should result in license suspension imo.

Thx for all the concern guys and gals. Ali (Wife) is making a full recovery, the only sign something has happened is the two black eyes, and being a little shaken up. With a bit of luck they should be gone in a few days.

I agree Ryzz, the Ambos are great people. We found this out with the mva involving our son. Good to see your wife is ok.

Ryzz,

Good to hear all is well. I work alongside the Ambos on a regular basis. They deserve so much more the Pollies give them. i see the fantastic work they do when they attend vehicle collisions, assaults and so on. Worth their weight in gold.

Take care all and promote your ambos!
