Has anyone hired a car trailer in Sydney? Who did you use & where were they located? Are there any conditions that restrict you from using/taking it interstate? I may have to pick car up from Adelaide.

Hey mate,
Used a nasty BP one from St Marys to tow a standard Commodore with a Commodore a few years ago, don't use them if your car is very low the hire-trailers aren't friendly for front bars.
Don't know about the restrictions, as far as I was aware you pay for how long you take it and that's that.

I haven't had any dealings with anyone one personally, but my work does hirer out trailiers for one of the bigger companies throughout Aus. You should be able to organise a one way trailer which means you save petrol costs from not towing an empty trailer and also can have a shorter hire period.
Now for the negitive, you can get some really bad trailers, generally the trailers would be expected once a month but they really dont do anything, they don't tow the trailer around the block or anything to see if it has any defects that would cause problems when the trailer is moving, just moreso look at the electricals quickly to make sure most of the lights work.
You really need to have a look at the trailer before you organise it which can be very hard to do, but there are clean good examples of hirer trailers out there. Also make sure what you're using to tow the trailer with is suitable.
Hope that helps you out

I just use the BP one's myself when we race at Wakefield Park, never had an issue other than they are heavy trailers. My car is pretty low I just use chocks under the ramps. I have a mate who works at Kennards and could get staff discounts but they don't allow their rentals outside the Metro area. I think the one way thing was the best idea for a trailer but my mate just had a Land Cruiser transported from Qld to Melb for $500 if thats an option let me know and I'll chase him for the details.

I used the ones from these guys: www.trailerrentals.com.au a few times. They are a national company and I think they will even do 1 way hires and have quite a few trailers around Sydney. The only issues are they are a heavy 700kg+ trailer and yes double check the trailer before you hire it, as the last one I had the brakes didn't work!

If you have no luck in Sydney mate I can put you onto the mob I used here in Newcastle. Cost me $250 for 2 days. $100 refunded on drop off with unlimited distance. It'll just cost you the few hours extra to pick up/drop off here... :)

I have used a few and a few mates have.
Al's (i think) trailers in Bexley has always been popular. But they seem a bit aged and im not sure how they would go on such a trip. They seem pretty popular at the drags with a few out there every meeting.
Also make sure it has a winch. We hired one for a mates broken down car and i can tell ya it was great fun pushing it on.

Thanks for the replies blokes. Am looking more into it. One-way would probably be ideal actually.
Also investigating the car-carrier option. Anyone had dealings with any car-carrier companies that transports cars that are "dead" i.e. rolling but not powered?
