Hi,
Garry (GHZ28) put me onto this website through a link to show me the big accident that Choppo had........not a good way to see a fellow punter end his day (Choppo if you read, Gaz gave me a bit of a download on the accident, sorry to see the car in its state, I hope that you get back on the horse).....Garry was quite distraut about this as he too came unstuck last year (or was it 2008 Gaz....???)
Anyhow, I have followed the Gaz-miesters footsteps so to speak and built a rego registered (if you could call it that) track car from a common-door VK. I have mucked around with it over the last three years whereby I have replaced most things twice (sometimes three times....engine, gearbox, diff, suspension.....roll cage, seats.......and the list goes on.....!!! and on..........and on!!!!! The car is a standard stroke 308 with 350rwhp, T5 gearbox, Kazz diff, adjustable Koni's front & rear, 4 spot Harrops front & rear, welded in 6 point cage....blah, blah, blah
I am pretty crap at driving this year but am enjoying myself....I think I was reasonably good mid-last year, then I've been going backwards!!! Best time last year around QLD National was 85.9 sec....this yeat 86.9sec....??? best time last around QLD clubman was 62.3....this year 63.1......???? best time last year around QLD sprint was 61.9...this year 62.9....???? WTF...???
Anyhooooo, we are heading out on Thursday Time Attack and I have made some additional changes to the car to make it drive nicer and need to sort out my cornering speeds...and get my confidence back in the brakes etc..etc....and hopefully get some MOJO back.......I am still a couple of seconds off Gaz's time.....which I have been chasing now for three years!!!!!....one day!!!!
I have read a number of threads and peoples accounts/journey's and I hope to meet some of you sooner rather than later....
