View Full Version : Eastern Creek Today = Doh!!! :o(

I took the SS for a run at Eastern Creek today. I did a PB in my first session of a 1:51.420.................... then I decided I'd push it hard for one last lap.

Well, coming into the final section, I came in deeeep into turn 10, the right hander, and braked hard. The back end started to slide til the car was facing the wall on the outside of the track. So I pointed it back the other way..... spun across the inside of turn 11, hit the ripple strip on the inside dead sideways, slid across the track and ended up on the grass in the outfield.

End result is a lot of suspension damage. A lot! Mainly to the front right hand corner. It probably doesn't look too bad in the pics but there are a lot of bent and broken bits under that car. The front tyres were only 8 laps old, too :(

So right now I hate motorsport  but I'll probably love it again by tomorrow :D

Here are a few pics... :headbang:

Damn!!!
Actually I saw the pics and thought it was the old OP thread.... same corner of the car wasn't it?
Hope the damage is restricted to the wheel and LCA - cross fingers

At least there was not to much damage, could have been worse EG WALL

I agree with what Seldo said :yep:

Aeron, if youre not sliding or slipping youre not pushing hard enough, so well done mate for getting out there and pushing hard, thats what its all about, and having fun too :D

The joys of having a go Aeron. Nothing worse than becoming the cliche` "you play you pay" :(

Perfect excuse for some "upgrades". :yep:

I pulled it all off this morning and it looks like I need to replace the sway bar link pins, shock absorber (no idea what the inside is like but the body is stuffed), lower control arm and steering arm. And I managed to stuff one of the new rotors because a rock got between the pad and the rotor. :nopity:

I should be able to get everything from the wreckers except the replacement shock absorber body and/or internals.

Damn!!!

No, last time was the left hand side. So now i've done the right. :mgun: It was exactly 1 year and 16 days since my last off

A lot of the damage (steering arm etc...) was done when the wheel folded under the car.

Broken bits...

Is the K-frame ok? Looked a lot worse than that - I reckon you got off lightly. Control-arm looks to me to be long-term wear from worn bush, rather than accident damage, so might be better still when fixed.

Yeh, the k-frame looks ok, from what I can see. Im just lucky the rear wheels stayed on the track and didn't damage anything in the rear. Double trouble.

Ouch! With consideration, thats not really too much damage.

I probably have some link pins around here second hand, as well as lower control arms complete with brand new bushes and ball joints.

BTW Seldo that now-oval hole used to hold the ball joint :)

BTW Seldo that now-oval hole used to hold the ball joint :) OK, thanks - I've never even had a look at one. But agree - much less stuff damaged than I'd have expected. It looked rooooley expensive...

You got away lightly. If you want a big off, get lessons from Choppo... :hide:

Shame to see damage mate but hopefully you'll be back on track soon...
