Well yep, I did!!

Im going to fly over to look at it.

Here is the link to it on eBay.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=260587991510&view=all&tid=575033963016

Please tell me what you think and also if there are any older Monaro experts on here please tell me about the VIN numbers and orinality

I know Ive jumped in head first but at that price then fark me I think its ok, for now LOL

Also does anyone know a good company that may transport it to Australia. It is not registered and does not run. Oh oh oh and does anyone know about what Duty/Customs fees I may pay.

Look forward to what you all think.

Troy

P.S. Any thoughts on how I do a NZ version of a REVS check?

Most of the dramas relating to the importing of vehicles relates to registration and emmission issues, but seeing this is a complete rebuild this shouldnt be a worry. You will probably need an engineers certificate when complete but this is far from my area of expertise.

I looked at importing Harleys years ago and there was a govt dept in Canberra I had to deal with...cant remember the name of the mob.

Thats an interesting find Bomi.

The only number i cant make out on the body code is the 3rd one, and thats the one that tells the most info

From what i can see the tag shows 'MODEL 80?37TR'

T = HT
R = R/h drive

Possible variants for the first 5 model numbers are:

80337 Monaro Coupe
80437 Monaro Coupe
80737 Monaro GTS Coupe (L6)
80837 Monaro GTS Coupe (V8)
81837 Monaro GTS 350 Coupe

'H5' on the end of the body code says it was built in Sydney.

HTH, good luck :)

Interesting get Bomi ... best of luck with it.

I'm in no way an expert but the gearbox/shifter don't look original. That shifter looks like something from a VB-VK.

Cheers mate, the missing or appears to be missing number is 8 so that makes it a GTS coupe V8, he sent a better pic of it so I could tell.

Take a magnet with you mate, and check her for bog. You'll kick yourself bringing home a classic car only to find it's full of dodgy repairs. 15k is still 15k. If she is an honest old girl then many congrats from me mate, I love the HT shape...

Congrats, sounds like a good buy.

Not sure on import stuff but i know a guy who recently imported a car from the states so i will ask and see what he has to say.

Not sure if this will help but it may have some info- http://www.consumeraffairs.govt.nz/consumerinfo/motorvehicles/buying-vehicles/checking-if-stolen.html

Also do a REVS check here in Oz to make sure it hasn't been stolen and shipped over.

When I imported my Mustangs , I had to get a Vehicle Import Approval. I am not sure if this still applies to this car. There is a bit of info here http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/importing_vehicles/general/index.aspx ......Cheers John

Not quite sure Dave.

I studied closely the picture on the ebay ad and the picture from the link that mustanger sent. It looks like the wood grain shroud, stick, and rubber is original. The black shroud surround is missing however.

Nice one Bomi hope you get the shipping sorted out. Got a mate who shipped a car from the states - took forever to get here, but is did arrive safe and sound.
An impulse buy?
Get thee to "old holden.com" forum. Shedload of usefull info, I'll see you there.
I'm with Dave that shifter dont look right - definitely a later model knob and the angle of the gear lever looks a little odd. I cant tell, was the car built as auto or manual?

Bomi
"10Y" Black vinyl trim with black and white houndstooth insert. Some thing has gone a miss here - shows as red (looks like a repaint not the original red vinyl colour) in the photos with no insert. Providing the seat frames and mechanisms are OK retrimming can be done. Mechanisms for these seats are expensive and hard to get.
"80837" seems correct = Monaro GTS coupe.
"H5" = Sydney build.
"11425" confirmed as Daytona Bronze Metallic.
What about the the other plate that has engine/transmission/rear axle codes?

When/if the time comes to buy stuff be prepared that anything monaro specific people want big $$$. Be patient and check the pricing thoroughly there are still a few bargains to be had.

You and Dave may be right. The knob is def different and on third look, the rubber may be different.

It may be the previous owner sourced the wood grain surround without the plastic shroud, or the black plastic perished leaving the woodgrain.

Pretty hard to tell from the ebay photos.

Interesting project nontheless.

Howd you know that Phil?

Andrew is a great bloke and today saved me tens of thousands of dollars.

The car was straight but rusted to the hilt, full of bog, and, dodgy welding. It would have cost me a fortune!

Im not sad but im glad that I didnt end up getting it as that would have sucked big time.

Im still looking for one so if anyone see's one please let me know.

Rather than mess with your head I should come clean.
Andrew mentioned on old holden that he was looking at a Monaro for a Troy from oz. There could not be 2 at the same time.
Good luck finding a bargain - hard to come by in the HKTG series of cars. IMHO you would do better paying more for a part restored / restored car.

Ahhhh makes sense now :D Andrew mentioned some one from there said to say hi.

He has been the most helpful bloke ever. The fact that he said no to what would have gotten him a lot of work and dosh speaks volumes of him as a person and professional. I actualy want to find a car in NZ to get him to do now. Ive seen all of his work on his website and its beyond amazing!!

Cheers,

Troy :)
