I've never been to Sumernats either, it'd be good to have a sticky I guess.

I'd love to see Craig Munro's and Garry Pope's cars on the dyno. Anyone know if Eddy Tassone is bringing his car ocross this year?

I'll be there again.

I first went in 2002 and had an absolute ball, went again in 2004 or 5 and didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much and going down again because its a great oppurtunity to catch up with some of my old friends from Vic plus this time I am staying with a frined in Canberra instead of the swag thing.

I personally think it has bee ruined by a plethora of f*ckheads who dont seem to be there for the cars just to cause trouble and make arses of themselves. That said there are some simply awesome cars there that boggle the mind as to how much time and money went into them, but massif (yes with a f) stereos and 27" inch wheels are starting to take over - hectic. Nothing wrong with nice stereos and wheels but when that is the only thing on the car whoopdy do. I am into to old school street machining and that seems to be a bit of a dying art.

Overall most definintely worth a sticky usually plenty to see and do, just not somewhere to take your wife/girlfriend and to some extent children depending on age which is why I dont enjoy it like I used to.

I'll be there like I am every year. The only really good thing left for us Canberrans, plus free tickets every year. First went in around 93 (was an entrant in 2000, 2001) and haven't missed many since.

If you want to see mind boggling machines worth millions in time and money its simply outstanding. I wouldn't stay in there later than 7ish Friday night or after the fireworks on Saturday night though, cause it turns into scenes like Mad Max heh!

Burnout Masters on Friday, Top50 Pavillion/Grass Events Saturday, and Go-Whoa/Horsepower Heroes finals on the Sunday will be the pick I reckon.

PS - Stay off the fences of the dirt oval track too, remember what happened last year with the Capa Ute.

If i didnt have a wedding to goto i would of been down there on Saturday. I first went in 2000 and had a ball, and been every year except last, since. Have found that every year was a let down on the year before. To much Bling and violence as SSUte01 mentioned.

Bring on the real muscle cars and street machines, forget the rest of the crap.

I went in '91 and again in '96. It was fantastic but I'm sure things have changed a lot by the sounds

Goran, Gilly and I went to Canberra yesterday to see that Nats but on the drive there thought "ahhh its the last day and will be really busy, stuff it" So we caught up with some fsmily of mine then went to the Australian War Memorial then to a mates place for dinner.

On the way home we took a wrong turn through the city and found ourselves driving down a section of city road that was lined with hundreds of PPL sitting on chairs, cars, gutter just watching the cars. Wasnt any NATS cars driving around at that time but there were so many people there just waiting.

THEN...we wanted somthing to drink for the 2 and a bit hour drive home so we pulled into a servo. Well that was the Sheel servo on Northbourne AVE/Federal HWY and we watched a bit of the NATS fireworks and saw a few hot cars of all sorts.

Sooooo I guess thats the closest Ive been to being at the nats :lmao:

I think I must be getting old :yep: but the last time I went was in 2000 from memory and after the 500th rendition of "SHOW US YA TITS" and 20th punch up over trivial shit (no not me ... others) it got a bit  so we packed up at about 1pm and went home to sunny Penrith.

Kyle Dave lives up near Newcastle, I think at the time he was speaking of he lived at Peniff.

Excuses, shit yeah, it was busy enough even if I was wrong and it wasnt the last day. I have seen enough yob crowd action in my time and it shits me up the wall. Im a more motor show type person.

I agree with Dave 100%, that stuff gets boring real fast.

I love cars, drags, buurnouts etc but the whole "Fully/Show us ya #*%*#/" and poeple punching on is just not condusive to enjoying fast cars.

Yes, I know I havent been and its different now. I will go one day. But when I get the time and inclination to do so :soap: :lmao:

Not wrong Dave. I've been twice...both times on a Saturday. Both times the day started out great, but by 4pm or so, my mates and myself were all sick of it and headed home.

First time I went (2002) was great though. I bought my VS (my first car) the day before, and managed to get the sun visor signed by Brocky (RIP). :)

Cheers,
- Febs.

sounds like all the heavy hitters in Hp Heroes either didn't show (Garry Pope, BLO402 and Eddy Tassone) or they failed (TRYHRD, Craig Munroe).

Trick & Manswetto's Capri (600 odd cu inch N/A) was HP Hero and didn't make 1000 HP, still an awesome result for a N/A car. (though I have heard that a turbo Commy beat it, can't confirm yet).

TRYHRD had no oil pressure and only made 600 odd Hp during qualifying and later was discovered to have a split cylinder.

It'd be the first time for many years that nobody could make 1000 rwHp.

Well I got back home about 4pm today and I have to say that was the lamest Nats out of the 3 I've been too. I waited til about 7pm Sat, then decided to go back to my hotel to watch Ghostbusters. I paid for a Sunday ticket but was so bored with it that I drove to Goulburn instead so I could find my way to Wakefield for a track day later this year. The only good thing to come out of the weekend was I found out my car can go 700+ km on a tank of fuel - city and highway driving!! Not bad for a 6 litre V8. So yeah, that's about the only things I can comment on....

I went on Fri mainly to catch up with family/friends from down home (Vic) spent a few hours catching rays and I would ahve to agree it was a fairly lame Nats of the three Ive been to. I did spend a little while driving around Fri night, got to see a fair few nice, tough streeters getting around it was more enjoyable than the event. went to Bateman's Bay on Sat, that is a fairly fun drive as Ive never been there before, hilly and windy for a bit - good, legal fun. I too found that I managed to get good fuel economy, the Nats for me is more an excuse to camp with friends - I still love all the cars but - I dont think that'll ever change.
