I see quite a few TrachChatters at the WSID private day. How many of you guys are prepared to have a guess at what your best ET will be for the day. Remember, it's likely to be warm!
These are the ones I can work out, there may be others that have different user names that I'm not aware of.

:hmmm: ... honestly I haven't got a clue. Whatever it is someone will have a reason why it should have been faster, so I don't think I'll worry about guessing.
What about yourself Al ... any guesses ... will we see a 10.???
:up2sum:
Nick, which car? :D
This is goung to be an awesome event, so glad to be part of it!
Al, a great question, one I was asking NickS the other day.
Depending on how hot it gets I will have two guesses.
Really hot, 35 plus I would run about 12.65
Not so hot 25 to 30 maybe 12.45
Thats just a guess Al.

As you said itll be warm, ill most likely just drive there and change tyres so ill say 11.8.
Itll be interesting to see how the coupe goes Nick, not so much for the et,s we all know it makes heaps of power, im interested to see if the 4wd will hook up or if it'll launch in a cloud of smoke coming of all 4 tyres :driving:

Dreaming of somewhere in the high 11's, but in being realistic, im going to aim for a 12.2
Being my first time out to the track, and having never gone flat out in the thing anyway, I'm going to be driving it quite sedately.
The last thing i'm wanting to do is bend metal by not being able to control it at high speed. Also (in spite of the ribbing that Nirvana and I are doing on LS1.com.au) I'm really not hoping to go breaking any parts of my drive train.
Am definitely looking to go out QUITE slowly for the first few runs :D
EDIT: Am racing it as it's being driven out there .... but as i'm keen to shed a few unsightly kilo's, does anyone think its stupid to leave the spare and Jack at home ?

Seedy, not at all mate, I never race 1/4 with my Jack and Spare. I have by accident but yeah, take it out at the track. If you leave it at home Murphies law says you WILL get a flat on your way to the track.

Just empty the boot at the track and make a neat little pile in the carpark. That's a nice thing about the private days, you don't have to worry too much about someone nicking your spare. If you're worried, take a chain and padlock and chain up your spare to a post.
BTW, I recon you've got zero possibility of breaking anything in the drivetrain if you're running street tyres. Wheelspin.... now that's a different question altogether. You should see if you can get in a couple of runs on some ET radials on the day. You're welcome to borrow mine for a run or two but I suspect they'll rub your guards too much (mine are 255 x 16"), perhaps someone will have some 15" ET's that you can borrow for a run or two.
I would be hoping for a high 11, but i can't really launch a manual too well, hell i cant even get the burnouts right. Atm my clutch is rooted too, hoping to get a tex beforehand.

Just a quick little deviation off topic if you dont mind in regards to rubbing wheels. I'm interested in where standard Holden wheels rub when you do run large rubber or deflated tyres (I was at one stage about to put 255's on as my rear tyres for daily driving).
I note you say you experienced rubbing on the guards.
I had the backs off the other day and noticed a little bit of black rubbing on my struts with my 235's.
Do people find rubbing occurs mainly on the guards or struts? Or are there too many variables?

I'll throw my guess for me @ 12.8 (armed with secret weapon) as a minimum, hoping very much to NOT suffer a driveline breakage like I did last time. Hopefully it won't take all day to achieve this time either.
Almost seems farsical in amongst all these projected 11's ... oh well.
Brain snaps count as driveline breakages don't they?

I aiming for anything starting with a 12 and I will guess if driver keeps up with car a 12.8 should also be achieveable on ETs. Number one aim for the day is to be able to drive it home again. Cant wait.

I'm told 255 road tyres usually aren't a problem on the rear, however as Dunc found out with his RE55's, comp/semi comp tyres seem to be much wider than street tyres with the same width designation (doesn't make sense I know, 255 mm = 255 mm), but my 255 Mickey Thompsons are much more than 20 mm wider than my 235 Kumho's. If I fit aftermarket wheels to the SS (which I'm contemplating doing) I'll be going 8.5" front with 235 profile tyres and 9.5" rear wheels with 265 or 275 profile tyres.

I know your hiding out there somewhere. A couple of Qs re the WSID day.
Spectators - allowed? Do you need names etc? Any charge?
Saw a post somewhere from animal re catering - care to elaborate?
Start / Finish times for the day?
I see a note on LS1 that the gates will be locked during the day - no late arrivals or early leaving - is this correct?
Was thinking of coming for a look but would have to leave early as its the outlaws 50th wedding anniversary (and my 22nd). Would be killed if I didnt show up at all.
Phil
Didnt PM as I thought others might like to know as well
Some interesting reading right there.
Id like to see staff try and stop someone from leaving :lmao: I usualy have to refuel after lunch at the shell around the corner.
Troy :)
From previous chats with WSID, im under the impression that gates are locked at the start of the day, im sure if you asked nice enough that they would let you out. Gates are obviously open at lunch time.
Here is the timetable of events as handed down by WSID.
Competitor Gate opens 8:00am
Credentials and Scrutineering 8:00am – 10:00am
Drivers’ Start Line Briefing (compulsory) 10:00am
Racing starts 10:15am
Lunch Break 1:00pm – 1:30pm
Racing resumes 1:30pm
Racing finishes 4:00pm
Competitor Gate closes/Venue secured 5:00pm
Spectaors are free to come (Officially they are Pit Crew, and 2 per car), obviously some people want to come watch, some want to bring friends, etc so its just open slather upto the limit of 100 people (assuming we have 50 racers).
I WILL need the names of everyone coming. Thats Racers/Drivers, Crew/Spectators, Photographers, etc. However ill collect that a little later.
Let me know if i have missed anything.
Also, here are some rules as passed down by WSID.
Strictly no alcohol permitted
No glass containers permitted
No animals permitted
No thongs or sandals permitted on or near the start line area (a wristband will not be issued to anyone not wearing fully enclosed footwear)
You must have a wristband to enter the start line area (ie drivers, crew and media only)
Spectators must remain in designated spectator areas
Spectators must not cross over spectator barriers, congregate on or near the Return Road or use the Return Road Tunnel as a short-cut to the Pit Area
All speed limits are to be observed
No ‘launch testing’ or burnouts to be conducted anywhere except on the racing surface
Any drivers quicker than 12.000-seconds must hold a current ANDRA Super Street Licence as a minimum
No vehicle capable of running quicker than 11.000-seconds may participate at this event.

"Any drivers quicker than 12.000-seconds must hold a current ANDRA Super Street Licence as a minimum"
There are probably some quick street cars coming with drivers who may not have a Super Street licence. I dont know how strict WSID will be if these cars go under 12 but expect them to be tough. Had a recent experience with them on a Friday night meet.
Super Street licence is available on application via ANDRA website $119 and normally takes 2-3 weeks to process as you need to snailmail a photo and they post your licence back.
My advice is anyone who expects to run sub 12 should enquire with ANDRA if you can get a licence in time or else your $200 entry could provide 1 run only with no refund from WSID.

The turn around time for licence applications is 21 days, if you express post your application and provide an express post return envelope. It will fasten the processing time.

Al, I wish mate. I got my licence just before the V8owners day that wasnt. i f you remember, probably not as it was a while ago, I was planning to putt a YANK SS 3600, that would have seen me to a 11.850 or there abouts. I was running 12.203 with standard stall.
I didnt put the Stall in due to a big speeding fine.
Ill be there for the dat for some testing and mainly video footage.

I was joking, but I do think that this will be the first WSID private hire day where the bulk of the cars will run sub 13 second times.
At the last few private hires you could count on one hand the number of sub 12 sec cars (and have fingers left over!!!!). If you go through the list you'll see quite a few that could possibly run a 11 sec pass.

I think the width is the same, 255 street or ET, the diffence is when running ET/Semi Comps your tyre pressure is usually a bit lower, and the compound is a little softer so the tyre ends up been a little wider in the edge/ rim.
Over the few times that Ive been the WSID / old East Crk. the tyres the use on the track a same size (width) but tend to fill the guards in more.

It'll be very interesting.... I Know I'll go very close to 11.000 without doing anything to it..... and Dale, being the competitive critter that he is, will want to beat me!
My A4 will be more consistant than his M6 (and he hasn't run his current combo down the 1/4 yet, so will be on a bit of a launch learning curve). I see lots of smoke and tyres blown away..... but when he gets it right, he'll be sent home!!!!! :up2sum:

all going well i hope to be sent home after the first pass (heres hoping anyway then i can help some of the customers run pb's!) one thing i have worked out with racing high powered cars with stock drive lines is to just do it first pass, cause it will always break on the next pass!! LOL, our 200sx is a perfect example of this, 1.51 60' low 10 and 140+mph one pass, broken drive shaft the next! did 3 shafts in one day of racing last year!
its been a few years since iver raced a fast manual car but i managed it when i was 20 so i think ill be right now im a little older and wiser, the old mazdas were pretty simple tho, rev to 8000rpm and side step the clutch.. dont think the commo will handle that abuse...
