View Full Version : Stupid/Dangerous drivers
Driving back from Sydney yesterday I saw some really dumb drivers. Dumb? No, effing stupid.
Sitting just over the speed limit, 114, which gives me an actual speed of about 111 I slowly saw a small car get closer and closer in front of me.
The were going slightly slower, well one would think.
As I passed the "car" on the two lane Hume highway, this "car" decided it would be a great idea to try and hide behind my rear spoiler. Well thats what it looked like in my rear view mirror.
Then slowly "she" dropped back, then a few moments later moved quickly back up my rear bumper. She did this for over 50 kms.
Finaly I had enough and applied my brakes very gently and slowed to 95kmh to which she stayed behind me.
Now cursing and saying WTF is wrong with this woman, she pulled out and over took me with a look on her face like "what are you doing?"
It when drivers like this drive like this I really scratch my head and wonder what it going through there heads as drivers.
Do they not know that if I have to brake hard they will:-
One, ram into the back of my car or
Two, swerve, over correct, slide then Roll/smah/drive into the other lane hmmmmmmm B double road train :headbang:
What is wrong with these drivers?
Really, it drives me stupid.
Now what made me write this is the fact that as I sit here looking at the Forum the morning news is on and the National road toll is over 40. 40 people are dead from driving on our Nations roads.
Some of these people are inocent victims and the others are the above type of driver that have no bloody idea what can happen on roads at any speed.
I could go on with another story from yesterday about another driver doing the exact same thing but hey, I just told you that story.
No wonder our road toll is so high.
We need some sort of advertising campaign that will somewhat educate drivers of the dangers of highway driving.
That is what is needed.
Troy :)

I will try to be brief - BOMI, these type of drivers are called "followers". They are too nervous to drive on their own. They need to be close to other drivers to feel secure, ideally they need to be tucked right under your rear bumper. There is only one solution, and it's a relatively dodgy one. Nail it, and I mean really nail it, leave them in a cloud of tyre smoke if possible, and keep your foot buried until you can no longer see them. Yeah I know it's dodgy - with revenue raisers and fixed tax cameras everywhere, you run a real risk of being busted. Only alternative is to actually pull over and let them get out of sight, then continue on your way. The only way to lose a follower is to get your car out of their visual range. I have tried both methods, and still failed to ultimately lose these losers about 50% of the time.....

That sounded very clinical :lmao:
I did pull away gently to see if they would follow and they did, F whits!!
I would have loved to gun it but with Double demerit points, braking was the best option.

I'm a clinical kinda guy :teach: Had an old lady do that to me on the way to Wangaratta one time. She went slow til I overtook her, then she sped up and sat on my rear - way too close. I took off, she caught up. I slowed down, so did she. I nearly stopped on the highway and she did too!!! When she finally worked out I was coming to a complete standstill, she roared past waving her fist!!!

These drivers should be banned ... they shit me to tears and it actually makes it quite difficult to focus on the road.
LEAVE ME THE F*CK ALONE !!!!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
I have done the "nail it until you can't see them" method before, not the best option but sometimes they piss you off so much that you just have to loose them. I just can't understand why people need to follow someone like that, if anything I prefer to have no one around me ... and then they have the nerve to get angry when you want to get rid of them.

Yeah ... you were her cruise control on double points week.
Can't control/regulate speed on a longish trip ... makes you wonder whether they are actually suitable to be doing the trip.
Maybe she'd have preffered a tow rope thrown out to her so she could hitch on and not get booked for speeding ... Or maybe a fairly lengthy measure of old tatty rope kept in your glovebox could have just been hurled backwards towards her windscreen. :)
Funny though how if you were to creep 5km/h over the speed limit, suddenly you're bookable for endangering the lives of all Australians and had 3 points taken. :toetap:

I know were your coming from Troy...unfortunately some people have NO idea have stupid there actions are...I see it everyday...usually I am also a victim of these idiots also...like the other day,the first day of the double demerit point system.
I would have at least half a dozen people going well over the speed limit, mostly young "P" Platers.
A couple of weeks ago I was tailgated by this nice looking black VY/VZ sedan
this kid would not let it go that I was in front of him, numerous times he got in front of me and ended up behind me again minutes later (this is on the M4 late afternoon)
When he finally got the opportunity to have most of the road to himself, flying by me with a big stupid smile on his face...he was moving that fast, that he couldn't slow down in his own lane, not giving himself enough time to brake, he locked it up and had to stop in the emergency lane.then off course it was the traffics fault for slowing down so quickly.he was very lucky that he had somewhere to stop and not run into the rear of someone.
Unfortunately these things happen too often, the Law is way to lenient with "P" platers today...and in general any one who breaks the law too often.
D.U.I,driving without a lic.dri. unroadworthy & unreg. vehicles. etc.numerous offenses under one act.
Treat every one around you like an idiot, and you might get home safely...

I find female P Plate drivers to be amongst the worst and most aggressive.
But what I hate is people who are having a chat, having a smoke, loading a CD and driving a car??????.in that order.
They are so busy doing everything else that driving the car is the last thing on their mind. They?ll do 60 in a 70zone and 70 in a 50 zone. I hate it!

What you have there Troy Boy sounds like a typical holiday driver incident. Around this time of year the masses of humanity tend to do the Griswald thing and drive many km's to visit the relo's ... the problem lies in the fact that the greater % of these people are not conditioned to freeway driving conditions and are more used to the bumper to bumper daily grind crap. Hence the driving they display on the freeways is very similar to the sort of stuff they engage in day to day. As mentioned by Seedy, you were acting as her cruise control.
Agreed, not safe in the least and IMHO this is why the holiday road tolls are as high as they are. People seem to presume that the driving they do day to day is no different to driving long distances on highways .... NEWSFLASH ---> "WRONG !"
This is one of the few reasons why L & P platers SHOULD gain experience driving on freeways, IMHO it is even more dangerous that regular driving.:werd:

You know what gets my goat - the amount of times we have to read the obvious answer. Better driver training and education, but no government does a thing about it. I also get very frustrated at how we get poluted with rubbish like the current road laws have reduced the road toll - bullshit. There is never any mention of the massively improved vehicle saftey, nor the fact as they slowly improve the quality of the main roads - Pacific Hwy is one example.
Also, while the P platers coming through beleive a drivers license is a right, not a privilege, their attitude on the roads will continue to reflect that.

u should see the ipswich highway , its packed full of idiots.
yep thus the reason why there is without fail a Major crash there every week.
i get this almost everyday on the way to work or anywhere.. 4WDers piss me the most will sit SOOO far up my arse i think i have hemroids .
in most cases will just ignore them but when it goes on for ages i dont brake, i just take my foot off the Go pedal and just slow down.. Hell i will Stop Dead if i have too. its little wonder people get Stabed in road rage.:headbang:
When my GTS was first stolen and i got the POS im driving now, i had a P Plater, female in a 15yr old crappy suzuki open top 4wd who though it would be cool to drive on my tow bar.
I slowed down, she got closer, sped up, closer again, etc till i eventually nailed the brake for half a second across collaroy plateu and heard her lock it up, at which point i stoped braking and went back to the speed limit, only to have her fly up behind me flashing her lights, tooting at me, etc....like how dare i brake suddenly that she needs to lock up her car to stop in time...nothing to do with her driving like an idiot though.
Then the pet hate....the RIGHT LANE IS FOR OVERTAKING/FASTER TRAFFIC, if your not going as fast as the car on your left, get out of the right lane. Roseville Bridge is the biggest offender for this, you get all you mums driving kids to work, paying no attention to anyone except themselves!!!!

Correct correct correct - and you'd think they'd see a big ass white transit van in their mirror.
Another pet hate - an indicator is not a bleeding GIVE WAY SIGN!!:headbang:

Nah mirrors are for decoration or putting makeup on. Not many people actually use them for looking at what traffic is around them

Hang on lets keep the P plater bashing outta here!
Im on my green p's and i pride myself that im a better driver than some other hoons out there like people in this thread have stated.
Prime example today driving down Victoria road after picking up a part for another console i bought (Im turning into a nerd arent I?) I had a women cut into my lane in front of me with no joke less than 30 cm bumper to bumper clearance in POURING RAIN!
I get on my horn and yell something that sounds similar to truck and overtake her. Then pull back into her lane - then a few one hundred meters later she is up my ass again giving me funny looks.
Seriously people need to grow up and learn that other people use the road.
As the old saying goes "Dont just drive for yourself, drive for the other idiots on the road"

*Oh and a good way to get tailgaters off your ass - turn on your head lights they will back off straight away works a treat :up2sum:
ALex dont take it as we are all taring P platers with the same brush and also this thread was about NON P platers driving like absolute ignorant idiots.
However mate, if people keep seeing young drivers doing STUPID things on the road and they have a P attached to their car then P platers in general will be talked about with general distain.
Now the chick that cut you off, well dude, im sorry to say but swearing at her, overtaking her, pulling back infront of her in her lane is just asking for trouble and is a P platter thing to do.
If she cuts you of, yeah fine swear, flip the bird do what you have to to ven t BUT man jsut let her drive off on her merry way ay least she wont be near you anymore. Youll probably see her under a blanket on the national news that night when she runs a red or causes a big accident.
I know you are a safe driver and so do dome others but you and I know that there have been some very bad accidents involving P platers of late abd that P platers do some very very stupid shite.
Hell mate, I was a P plater once and remember thinking I new it all and that my 78 Kingswood was indestructable :soap:
Now about head lights.... I drive with mine on al the time so if I turn mine off will that work also :lmao:
I think you have seen some old Clint Eastwood movie where the good guy (Clint) is being chased closely and turns on his head lights and the crooks swerv to miss him and crash. Well thats the movie that came to mine when you said that :)

Yeh i understand that, but i find it frustrating that a large percentage of people on their silver licence find P platers to be crap drivers which in some cases is the truth - but there are many bad drivers out there on their full licence!
*I actually overtook her on the right hand lane, went down it a few hundred meters then pulled back in - she was out of sight. But she then decided to speed up and start to tailgate me - a REALLY smart decision in the pouring rain on a busy main road.
Haha well i aint no Clint but yeh its a little trick i picked up from a person i knew on ozhonda.com - pretty good!
