View Full Version : Competition (prize) Guess the C4T's ET
http://www.trackchat.com.au/media/data/500/medium/13_Colour.JPG
Ok, so the LS1 drag day is soon and we have seen the Coupe4T movie.
The car is insane and there is a fair bit of talk about what ET the Coupe4 will run.
Sooooooo what ET will the Coupe4T run.
2000+ kgs

30 degree day
So put your best two guesses in.
One for a 35 deg day and one for a 25 deg day.
Heres mine.
35- 12.050
25- 11.800
Whats the driver skill like?
Will nick give it a big stall up at the tree?
Too many variables right now.. but i'll throw my guestimates in...
25deg: 12.000
35: 12.700

Whats the driver skill like?
 ... it's an auto with AWD Kyle, put your foot down and hold it straight ... not real hard.
Won't be stalling it up, factory stall and I'd rather not break anything. Launch from idle (650rpm).
True story nick :D
I'll leave my guesses in, keen to see it go quicker though!!! :) :)

From memory it did a 13.5x in 383 form, it now has about another 250 neddies so I will guess:
25? - 11.55 @ 127 off 2.1 60'
35? - 11.80 @ 124
Either way I cannot wait to see it run.

I reckon 12.001 @ 122 mp/h ... :stick:
OK now for real ... um 11.785 @ 121 mp/h :)
I reckon Nick will be asked to take out an ANDRA licence, personally. :p
35deg˚C - 11.95
25deg˚C - 11.67
Was really keen to see Nick and Seedy on their maiden runs, but unfortunately I'll have to settle for videos (busy that day).
Cheers,
- Febs.
So have i underestimated the coupe's potential here??:hide:

Probably not mate ... it's a hell of a lot of weight to get moving, 12s may be more realistic than 11s ???
Remember, full weight, street tyres, no big rev launching ...
I guess we will find out in 2 and half weeks !!!
I dunno. All i know is if you hope for a 12 and get an 11 you'll be stoked, but if you hope for an 11 and get a 12 you'll be dissapointed... :(
Or maybe thats just me? :werd:
In any case, I cant wait to see this in action, i'll be sure to get a shot from front and rear of it with the full 'leanback' :D:D

Doesn't really matter to much anyway as I don't think Nick i all that concerned about et as i think Nick is just giving it a run for abit of fun.
I hope everyones cars come through unscathed and no breakdowns occur.

11.7 @ over 120 mph
and if we get a cool one, a smidge under 11.5.
I thought you had a 3000 rpm stally? I knew there were some issues with the stally but I thought they were sorted? Regardless, you should be able to get her up to 1200 - 1500 rpm against foot brake and hand brake just before launch. I wouldn't do it too many times or you may hurt your trans, but for a 'let's see what'll she do' run.... I'm also very interested in seeing how well she gets power down from a full throttle start.

You're exactly right Al, 3000rpm YANK stally, ordered with the rest of the Turbo gang. It didn't fit and Sonny had to send it back, at that point we needed to make a decision;
1. Wait for the right one ... more delays, more time sitting in the workshop
2. Put it all back together and run with the stock stall until the gearbox goes
We went with number 2 ... the stally is sitting at Sonny's for now.
I'm rather reluctant to stall it up against the brake as I really don't want to brake anything at this stage, but we will see what the day brings.

There is a single turbo standard internals coupe 4 running mid to low 12s in full street trim so I would think this is where the Coupe 4 would be at. Faster then a Porsche Turbo for half the price!

Ahhh I very wise and learn-ed voice speaks from the darkness. Well put Mr K.
A sensible and mechanically sympathetic launch is the key and 120-ish mp/h off a posible 2.7 second 60ft is gunna still be friggin impressive.
Let us not all forget that whatever time the Coupe runs ... IS WHAT IT RUNS.
How and why it ran what it ran is 100% pfft. As eluded to in many posts both here an elsewhere ... there's more to generating a 1/4 mile ET than just power and besides, all the emphasis on drag racing is BS ... correct? :werd:
Has it been set up purely generate a lah-de-dah figure on a drag strip? - NO !
Is it a smart driver that launches a car with this much torque and power with mechanically sympathy? -YES !
Do we really care what any knocker's opinion is and what her or she might have to say about it - NOPE/NUP/NOTTA/NYET ! :werd:
Go have fun with it Nick ... oh and can I be the first to race against ya?
I wanna be the first guy who had his arse handed to him on a plate by the C4T. In other words I wanna see what it feels like to be JB ! :stick:

 ... no secrets Dunc, despite what some think I'm not building a race car here.
Street tyres (19" Falken FK-452), 38psi, full weight, full tank of fuel, seats all in, air-con on (40 degrees remember), no converter (well, factory) and I think it is shifting at around 6000, it was discussed while tuning but I can't remember ... it's a very conservative setup !!!
Once again ... 40 degrees :flame: Damn that's hot, and all that reflective concrete ... SUNCREAM / HAT / SUNGLASSES people !!!

I will be lucky to still be there at lunch time with those temps... i wonder if we can get them to start racing earlier and finish early
Fark, i gotts stand in that heat ALL day :(
It's only been that hot once here at EC this summer so far, so im hoping they readjust that estimated temp later in the week... so something about 25deg...

I think the weather might turn earlier as there is a SSW due monday night, but the chances are the heat today and tomorrow will speed up that process and bring hte temps back toward low 30's (and there is only going ot be around 1m swell, maybe offsure game fishing would have been a better choice for sunday )

11.7@118,
at the end of the day this car is a amazing piece of engineering, who cares what it runs, im sure the smile on Nicks face will be all that everyone can see anyway!
Well said Dale.
The only reason I started this thread was to find out what ppl think it will run as I had no idea as did Nick, what the Coupe will run.
What ever it runs will leave more times to chase in those great Turbo weather months.
One of the reasons im not running also, to hot and if I run the SS on the 1/4 I wanna be able to chase a PB.
Looking forward to see you all there on Sunday.

btw how much does the Coupe4 weigh?
Nick when you ran it last time, what 60" did you get
and what gears does it run?

2nd prize is no romantic dinner with Nurse Bomi ... :hmmm: ... maybe they should be the other way around.
Coupe weighed 1965kgs with me last time I weighed it, it has since added some big brakes, an iron block and a turbo + intercooler ... my guess is around 2050kgs with me in it.
60" with the 383 was between 2.15 and 2.35 seconds ... gears are factory HSV - 3.46:1.
The sky is blue because the airoplanes have that funky blue water in the toilet and everytime someone flushes it leaves a stain ...
:D
Been advised there is a top fuel private test tomorrow, so the track should have a very good surface for sunday! :)
Thats great news, I hope its preped great for the day
