Evening all,

It's time for a new car and I'm leaning towards the VE Calais with the 8. From what Ive read they get the same suspension setup as the SS but do they also get the LSD?

For much the same price for an 08/09 model, you get an SS with the extra bells and whistles (which is nice for my long commute to work each day), but is there something I'm missing other than the SS's more sporty bodykit?

The difference in insurance cost is also pushing me towards the calais. Further down the track I'll end up doing the normal wheels, exhaust and intake etc etc, but for value for money I'm stuck on the boring looking calais.

Is there a good reason I shouldn't be going that way?

If only Nick's coupe4 was within my reach

Or should I just man up, pay that bit extra for insurance and get on 07 Clubby instead?

The calais has nicer appointments inside, if you prefer this over the SS interior then it's no question I guess :)

Didn't think the LSD in the commodes was any good anyway?

Lsd is an option for calais so if your buying new you could order it with the car, or if s/h there would have been some owners that option'd their car with it from new as well. my dads doesnt have one and i dont think it really needs one anyway but if you really did want one they are not to hard to find new or second hand.
id go the calais over the ss peronaly, i had an 07 ve ss befor and it was a good car but dads calais is just a lot nicer. actually id buy a secondhand caprice if i could, even flasher than the calais and classier looking imo with the bigger body.

I'd say the Calais, though I might be a bit biased. ;)

I recently bought a Calais-V International and love it. The little touches over the SS and SS-V just make it that much nicer to sit in day to day. People who have sat in it have said it feels very European. :)

:yep: ... man up.

Honestly, interior wise there is bugger all difference between Calais and SSV ... SS feels quite a bit "cheaper". Choice between Calais and SSV or HSV probably comes down to what you like more exterior styling wise.

Very nice cars any way you go though ... :yep:

Calais over SS everytime, especialy if you are going to Put an exhaust on and Mafless it, makes the SS's slight power advantage null and void :D

Plus Eseries Calais are sexy beasts (Especialy the Calais V)
