We are at the point that the avalanche has served it's role hauling kids prams nappies etc etc around daily.

The mrs would now like a smaller car as she doesn't need so much boot space day to day.

Budget <$25k and prefer closer to $20k

current winner is Mazda 3 neo
considered lancer

Will be hatch and manual if new.

Any thoughts or considerations?

Thanks

ps I will be keeping a tank for Now for weekend and holiday duties.

How about a Coupe 4 ... low kms, always garaged etc. etc. etc.

:D

Have you looked at higher spec models, 6 - 12 months old, < 10,000kms etc. You'll probably find that you can get one for the same price as a new Neo ??? I like the Mazda 3 ... gets great write-ups and looks nice, I gather quality is good too.

Considered Subaru Impreza ? Not sure on price but could be worth a look.

Happy to help you shop ... you know where I am!

Scott I reckon the Ford Fiesta's look pretty good these days. You could definately get a new one for that money, and as they are German, they seem pretty good value.

It was probably going to be the car I got...if I didn't get my discount on the Diesel Cruze.

Nick,
Ill take it for $22500.... and live with the consequences at home....

Nicole is after a hatch that closely resembles a Mazda 3... no bigger

So I am doing research for the sake of research... but really expect to get a 3.

Was going to see if a second hand maxx sport was worth it...

Scoobi forester?

Not what I would call a small car ... it's basically a small 4WD???

Hyundai i30 ... seriously consider this Scotty, from all reports a bloody good car.

Yeah Scotty i would consider the i30.

The Mazda 3 is a good package. Interior wise they are OK. The fabrics are pretty cheap and the carpet is a PITA to clean. The paint is of ok quality. Its quite thin but very hard. The thing with this is it chips pretty easily and is hard to buff marks out of. Also the metal is quite thin, which means it stretches easily so some dents cant be removed with PDR.

The lancer isn't as nice as the Mazda IMO. the fit and finish is a little lower. Also the paint is very very thin, sometimes to the point where i wont buff a new car because the levels are to low.

For the money your talking you could grab a Mazda 2 Genki. They are the top of the line in the 2 and super fun to drive.

You could most likely get this for $25 .2010 Golf (http://tinyurl.com/39oscby)

It would definitely be worth a look in IMO. they are great cars in all aspects. Smooth drive, nice interior and great paint.

If you do end up buying second hand let me know and ill come out and check over it to tell you if its been sprayed or crashed.

I recently bought the bride a new Mazda SP25 with luxury pack and sunroof. They have all the bells and whistles and are a great mid size run about. You should be able to pick a second hand one up for around the 25k mark.

We bought a 5dr Astra CD hatch new in mid 2008. Awesome on fuel, has cruise, electric everything, does the job perfectly around town and goes surprisingly well on the highway. It was about 2k extra for the auto as she won't drive a manual but even then it was only about 23k brand new. Worth a look...

Just avoid anything VW mate.
Terrible reliability and a fortune to fix- which is common.

With the Astra, heard alot of negative bit with electronics playing up.

Have a look on this site.

Everyone complained the impreza hatch looked identical to a mazda 3 so worth a look mate.
Remember I have a connection with Subaru mate so can get some special deal for you.
