As some would know i lunched a diff in my VT Clubbie big time on the way to the dyno day at Castle Hill Exhaust , after getting it home .. Thanx to mates with 4x4's and a rental trailer , i sat at the caltex at Thornleigh for about 4hrs , try finding a rental trailer on at 11.30am on a sunday ... I got it home finally. First thing monday morning , I began ringing around various shops , i ended up buying a complete diff fitted with 4.1's and lsd from Ebay , ordered tuesday morning arrived on my doorstep Thursday arvo.. I began removing the old busted diff in the garage using a trolley jack and jackstands. This was only the begining of the problems i encountered , unable to gain acess to the front bolts holding the housing in , i could get a spanner on them but not able to get enough leverage to crack the bolts:swear: , after getting these bolts out the exhaust was in the way:swear: .. Off to the local tool suppliers for a pipe cutter , $150 dollars later ( for a tool that will be used once) dont let the missus see the reciept:bash: :bash: , after cutting and removing the exhaust the diff was out ..:nana: After installing the diff i found that one of the bolt holes for the driveshafts had a damaged thread . Off to the hardware shop for a tap to clean it out :bash: but no in their wisdom holden decided to use a no standard tread pitch bolt .. Usual 10mm bolts are 10 x 1.5 mm thread but these are 10 x 1.25mm .. No hardware shop had a tap to suit . Oh well continue on with the install , will fix the thread later .. Finished installing and off for a test drive with the exhaust still cutoff infront of the diff sounded so tuff wish i could keep it like this all the time ..
In conclusion the 4.1's are awsome no probs turning rubber into smoke rolling in 3rd gear :driving: :driving: :driving: .
Bring on the dragday , it goes in for a tune on VP racing SV05 fuel on monday , lets see what horses are hiding inside when it is able to have some timing thrown at it ..
 mark

Touch wood no probs , i am looking at bringing a Trutrak center in from the states and a new set of gears and rebuilding my smashed diff ..

Yeh i was there till about 930 10ish then decided to head home . Thought the diff would be rooted anyway so may as well try to make the tow cheaper .

Why couldn't you unbolt the exhaust?

Why couldn't you unbolt the exhaust?
Because i was using jackstands , i couldnt acess far enough forward to unbolt behind the cats:sigh: (to fat ) . Never doing another diff replacement on the garage floor again , if needed i will be using a hoist ..
