Heads up for those who track in NSW; i believe a new benchmark has been grafted today at Wakefield. Marek ran a stunning 1:01.37, mods include catback, Willall E85 tune, FIXED wing, new slicks and a talented driver.

Insane.

I believe Marek is driving the kids to school tomorrow morning in the car too!

R35: The supercar for anyone, anytime, anywhere. Nissan delivered today!

I am simply amazed at what this car can do with some simple mods.

Congratulations Marek.

Now, where's my chequebook....

Marek was running a new set of soft slicks, i was a second or so behind. We've both got some serious coilovers coming soon, this plus new slicks we are going to run 1.00.xx, or better..... 59's possible? i am starting to think it is.

But yes, congrats Marek!

BTW, your new PB wasn't to shabby...

Looks like my new PB does not count Greg, it seems they accidentally left me out there for FIVE hotlap (their mistake, no chequer nor red "in" flag) and they don't count anything more than the 4th lap for each session. Apparently that would be "unfair" to other competitors...

Did you see a 1:02.35 on the screen (sure i did) however it was excluded from the results. Anyway just something to keep in mind, you can be dudded out of a time in this way...

Thankfully it doesnt affect points either way.

Three rounds to go!

Very impressive ... I remember when you were chasing down a 1:09 in the Monaro ... now you're looking at 59's !!!

So how are the championship standings looking ? Is there a summary somewhere ?

Far out! And with such little mods! It only gets expensive from here on in! Nissan really do know how to produce true supercars!:chuckle:

Every round Dunc and Marek set new bench marks that will stand for along time. There is a lot of talk on the EVO forum about keeping the R35's honest but I think you guys have just taken it to a new level. Keep up the good work.

I remember 14-18 mths ago 1:06's were super fast but 1's and 2's are unreal.

Utter madness ... extremely well done guys.

For conversations sake ... what are the V8 taxis running around WP for comparison?

I did see it, I had to go back into the office to hand back my photographer vest. IIRC it was credited to lap 20?

Stupid rule but it changes nothing.

As for Wakefield records, they are all listed on their site. Marek's lap is the supersprint class record.

How much weight reduction can occur? Such a heavy car that can produce these times will only increase 10 fold if you can drop the weight substantially

You can pull some weight out of them:

Wheels, you can save up to 10kg per corner with track rims and slicks
Seats are 30kg ea. so race seats save a lot
Exhaust, you can save 25kg running titanium
Interior, you can rip out the huge woofer, 4kg and back seats (5kg)

So there's say 100kg there, but that's about as far as you can go. Race weight is still well over 1700kg with driver, actually close to 1800kg with fuel, so it's still quite heavy.

Well done Marek, definitely lifted it to a new level with that time.

I did a 1.03.6 on the Saturday on shagged semis so for 24hrs i was thinking i might be able to give you 2 a run for your money on slicks, and then i saw Marek did the 1.01.3 and that dream pretty much died there and then.

You guys are getting into serious supercar / open wheeler / lemans car territory it's going to be hard for tin tops to compete with you from here on in, at least at supersprint level.

Think i will buy a new set of slicks myself but 1.01's in an evo with stock engine pffft i'm pessimistic. Looks like the R35's may have just set an unobtainable benchmark for those without unlimited funds...

I think anything is acheivable whether its an GTR, EVO, Civic etc. Im sure with more time, we'll see some amazing times from these machinery at both Wakefield and Eastern Creek

The lap times put down by your EVO mick is more than impressive. Keep up the good work

Sensational times Mick; but could be 1~2 seconds gain in some good slicks

I think we have some way to go with developing the r35, starting with some decent coilovers in time for the next SS round.

Simply awsome guys. With that weight car, it gives me a little hope I can get my barge around the track quicker if I set it up right.
Top work guys!

Wow 25kgs in the exhaust alone is a huge saving! Hate to think what that might cost though:shock: Might be time for a full carbon shell ha ha!

i already have the titanium exhaust, it was about $3.5k or thereabouts, so not stupid money really.

Ah very nice! Where did you get that? I'd be interested in pricing one up for my Ute. Overkill i know but every kilogram counts right? I'm assuming its cat back only?

I believe he has a Willall(Street Tuna) exhaust.
I don't think he sells them for commodores but i do remember that CAPA used to sell them.

If it's for commodore, Russo performance (Prestons) can arrange a titanium exhaust.

Some interesting comparisons. Could be a good thread on it's own with all of us submitting this kind of info.

R35 (Marek & Duncan)
1700kg/380kw = 4.4kg/kw
Wakefield - 1.01'3 (M)(Michelin Slicks)
Eastern Creek - 1.40'1 (D)(Michelin Slicks)

Sonic Evo 9GT
1300kg/260kw = 5kg/kw
Wakefield - 1.03'6 (Yoki 050's))
Eastern Creek - 1.41'7 (Yoki 050's)

BYP Civic
920kg/250kw = 3.6kg/kw
Wakefield - 1.03'2 (Yoki 050's))
Eastern Creek - 1.41'2 (Yoki 050's))

My Evo 8MR
1400/280kw = 5kg/kw
Wakefield - 1.04'6 (Bridgy RE55's)
Eastern Creek - 1.43'6 (Bridgy RE55's)
