Hope this isn't a double post.

We all need to sign this :bs:

The NSW RTA is proposing changes to the current registration system for modified vehicles. These changes will mean that the majority of modified vehicles will be classified as individually constructed and will have to comply with the ADR's current on the day that it goes for registration. Please follow the link below and sign the petition to assist us in taking the fight to the NSW Transport Minister.

Why are you against it?

Does it cost to have this ADR check/compliance done?

What percentage of the total cost of mods to our cars would it cost, small I imagine.

It would stop some rediculous mods happening!!

A guy I know had to go through the ADR process to register an ICV (Cobra replica) up here in Qld. He had to take it to northern NSW to a guy who specialises in these vehicles. He made a comment that many of the current crop of brand new 'showroom' vehicles wouldn't pass the current ADR purely on noise emissions test in the same guise as we, the consumer, buy them. The manufacturers allegedly go to great lengths to use a special low-noise tyre, on a very particular (quiet) road surface to get the db reading to an acceptable level.

Bomi - this would spell the end of constructing hot rods as we know them. Probably good for current owners as the value goes up.
You would no longer be able to take a 1934 chassis and body (reinforced) and add an SBC, comply with ADRs from the engine bock date + engineers requirements and drive away.
The way these rules can apply everyone will need to drive a VE clone to get thru.

Not only hotrods but our 4xxci monster V8's and turbo firebreathers.

And how about the possible implications of restriction of trade to aftermarket parts suppliers. ACCC anyone?

Just another example of the over-regulated, over policed, nanny state society that we live in.
