Hi Guys,

I have been contacted by V8 Supercars about hiring a private box at Bathurst again this year, I am going to place a tentative booking on a box for 20 people. The box is situated on top of the new Hotel at the Chase, we will be some 4 storeys up and the view is pretty spectacular.

I am not sure on price yet but I think we can assume a ball park of $1000 per person, this would cover the box for 4 days (Thursday - Sunday), VIP parking, full paddock access for 4 days, program and hopefully some food over the weekend. I'll need to confirm all of this when further details are available.

Please note ... this price does not include accommodation !!!

If you want to come I need you to let me know ASAP, please don't say you are interested if you don't think you are at least 98% sure, I don't want to book this and then have half the people that expressed interest pull out at the last minute.

Post up interest and I'll see how we go.

Maybe those that have been to the prior years (that we had the private box) can post some feedback on the experience, it is a fantastic way to watch the race and a top weekend all round.

Those wanting accomodation should get onto it now, I am not organising accomodation for 30 - 40 people and it does book up pretty early. There are lots of options and there are lots of smaller towns outside of Bathurst as well as Orange & Lithgow if really deperate. The Mt Panorama Resort is taking names and they will be contacting people in April / May for possible bookings ... this is not a guaranteed starter though so it would be wise to book somewhere else in the meantime if you can.

I will be needing a deposit off everyone to secure the booking, no idea when or how much at this stage, probably $100 or so. I'll post up as soon as I know more details.

Numbers are looking great guys, should be a fantastic weekend ... keep 'em coming !!!

Correct, the "Best Western" resort. Got the number off the Mount panarama resort website.

HOWEVER, i was definitely talking with a chair moistener offshore in a call centre; it could be the weekend has been blocked out by the hotel operator in anticipation of some upcoming allocation priorities.

IF you guys end up with the situation like last year where you had a few members who could only go Saturday/Sunday then I would like to say me and my mate are happy to negotiate with anyone who can only go the Sat and or Sun.

We will be going Thurs/Fri/Sat but we've already got plans for the cinema projector setup like last year on Sunday at my house, so we wont be there for 4 days.

So if someones only going Saturday and/or Sunday and you have their tickers availiable for Thurs/Fri and/or Sat for instance lemme know, we may be able to help. No use letting good tickets go to waste and it'll work out for someone whose only going 2 days because they dont have to pay for all 4.

Hope this makes sense - I tend to complicate the situation :beer:

Time to start collecting final payments guys. Can you each please send through $800 per person, I am still not sure on the exact figure required but it will be no more than the $1000 per person quoted at the start of this thread. When I have the details finalised in relation to food etc. I will make sure any excess funds are returned to everyone.

I need to make this payment in the first week of August ... that gives everyone 8 weeks to get the funds together. If you want to send it now that is quite OK, if you need some time to get the money together that is also fine, that's why I'm giving heaps of notice. I am also fine with several payments if that makes it easier, $100 pw for example, whatever suits you.

There will be softdrinks + water in the fridge on the Friday, all other food / drink on Thursday + Friday is up to you. It's fairly quiet on those days so wandering around the track is very easy.

Someone else has already raised this idea, as I said to them, you will need to shell out another $1,000 as no one gets into the box without a pass. Personally, I'd rather get my own beer and save the money.

OK guys ... not long to go now !!!

All the corporate ticketing has been finalised and I have all the passes / lanyards / wrist bands. Every person will get a lanyard with 4 passes, 1 for each day (duh !!!) and 4 wrist bans marked Thurs - Sun. The wrist bands are the paper things like they issue at the drags (in NSW anyway) and they can't be removed without breaking them. You need both the wrist band and the corporate pass to get access to the box on each day.

I can send the passes out or I can meet you at the track up there and give you the passes then (PM me for my mobile number). Can everyone please let me know their preference. If you want them mailed PM me your address and I'll send everything in a secure postpack. If the Sydney guys want to come and pick them up from me that's fine also, I'm on the North Shore near Hornsby.

If you want them mailed out I accept no responsibility for what happens after they leave me ... we have had mail lost before, the risk is yours.

The racing was awesome... its great to be there and see everything up close and personal.... the company was great and very entertaining.... the management of the event left a little to be desired (however I will not rant here)

I believe most people enjoyed themselves... some a little too much...

I presume Stu and Gary are still drinking in the Bago..

Overall I had a good weekend, more due to the company than the success of the corporate box. Meet some new guys, caught up with some old guys and of course enjoyed a drink or 5 with a few stooges.

Thanks to Merrick for his assistance with the management side of things ... the weekend would have royally sucked if I didn't have you sharing the burden.

I would have preferred a red victory ... but as always, if a Holden can't win it I'm glad it was Lowndesy + Jamie Whincup that did. IMO 2 of the most likeable drivers in the field, they say they didn't have the quickest car in the field but the race lap record and 1st across the line says otherwise. Well done boys.
