After taking a VE SSV for a test drive last week I went and ordered one today. Decided to stick with another black one with sunroof, tint and a full size spare:confused: (still don't know why you have to pay $250 for it).
Can't wait til Friday afternoon when i get to pick it up then its a weekend of driving.
Hopefully I will have time to take some pics and post them up at some stage next weekend.

I was at Heartland - Penrith today getting some parts, and they had a VE display, they had a Black GTS next to a SS..The SS looked so bland next to the GTS....I would hate to see what a std Commodore would of looked like next to a GTS...comparing them really wants you to sign the papers for the GTS.
but the 40 g difference...:(
So how much did yours set you back...

Cheers

Well obviously if i could afford a GTS I would have bought a GTS:( . I think I will be able to cope with the with the bland option though at around 50k it will have to do.

Geez, if the SS-V is bland, my base model SS must be downright boring.......:confused:

My oppologies, it wasn't intending that your new car is plain...I was just saying how the salesman are really going out of their way trying to sell off the GTS...Usually they have it in the showroom not in the carpark...
My opologies again...not intended to offend you...

scary guys hah!

I live somewhere between the M4 and Panthers lmao, probably pass you guys several times without knowing it!. The blokes at Heartland parts are more then helpful which is good because I used to travel to Suttons Parts at Homebush of a Sat morning to get stuff, but my mate Darren there is more then helpful! Good to hear they managed to sell a car, when we were looking at buying an AWD Adventra they tried to sell us a 2WD Astra, well thats what the paperwork said :stick:

G'day Y2K...you can't miss mine..there are 3 SS 50's.. in the area but mine's the best...:stick:
I'll be out and about today...looking into a new ride...either a Monaro, Clubby or A 4WD as a daily driver and keeping the ute in the Garage, as weekender only..with future plans as fiiting a Vortec, bigZorst..but thats all down the pipeline (yes still dreaming)

Congrats Simon,

Nice choice indeed. I drove a VE today and I gotta say what a nice machine it was.

Can I have all your go fast bits off the VX? :) Nothing big, just diff and tailshaft.... :bravo: :waving:

I'm thinking Bathurst will be a good first trip for the car and will get some photo's by decent photog rather than doing them myself :)

Dave - unfortunately the dealer was fairly specific as to what he expected to be on the car next week when it gets traded in (ie you can't sell the exhaust, brakes etc to your mate) so dif etc will have to stay attached. Luckily i had aready removed the OTR / Scan gauge and a few other things to sell shortly.

Today marked the 1st month of ownership and really I couldn't be happier with the car. :woohoo:
It is so different to the VX - just effortless quiet power. Nice exhaust note for a std exhaust. While overtaking today I looked at the speedo and was surprised to see what speed I was doing.:yike:
So far I've managed to rack up 1850kms and have enjoyed everyone of them. Did 495km today up and back to Nelson Bay with and av speed of 72.3km/h and av fuel use of 11.6l/100km. Not to bad for a 6.0litre V8. Pushed it through the roundabouts and corners and expected the ESP to kick in but it didn't and the car just stuck to the road.
Only problem was y'day at the shops when i used the clutch and it didn't pop back out. So after stalling I had to reach down and pull the pedal back out from the fire wall - been fine since though.:confused:
Looking forward to a Wakefield day now - just got to find time.
Few pics from Bathurst last month..

If i could talk the mrs into changing to a holden, i'd have done so already with a SSV :D
But I cant, so i should stop dreaming.

Hmmm... don't like that. Perhaps a visit to Holden for a please explain/fix in next few days :confused: :confused: ? Don't get caught out at an inopportune moment ;).

Only done a few laps of Wakefield with Aaron Mcgill driving (which i won at a skid pan day - you might remember that day :stick: ) which is why i really want to get down there and do it myself.

Thanks and will do - i imagine if it happened in traffic it would be a lot worse.

Well its been a just over a year since I picked up the VE and still love driving it. Mods so far -
* Pedders lowered springs
* Little metal aerial
* JK's gauges
* De Filipo 2.5" catback
Then today i picked her up from Sonny who had added -
* 1 3/4" x-force headers and 3" cats
* Orsom OTR which looks great
* Maf tune
A big thanks to Sonny for looking after me - excellent guy to deal with

Very happy with how it goes and sounds - much brisker of the mark and a gentle prod of the pedal gets a chirp from the rear tyres. It is awsome fun even in peak hour traffic. According to the Dyno its now got 265.8kw and 609nM. Bring on 2/3/08!!

Looks awesome mate ... perfect height, not so low that it stuffs the car but low enough to look great !!!

How many kms have you racked up ? I have just hit 8,000 in the SS-V and the GTS is getting close to 28,000. Also, how do rate the 2.5" ? We have had issues with the 3" and Sonny has a 2.5" waiting for me ...

Look forward to catching up on the 2nd.

:cheers:

Only done 13,500kms so far. Got a expensive sitting in traffic going to and from work every day so back to public transport that keeps the k's down.:headbang:
I reckon the 2.5" is good. Its sounds great now and with the otr, headers and tune works well to make some decent power. Main difference is it might be a bit quieter but you know its not standard.
