Just Insurance (I think they are now known as Rhino Insurance) are worth a call as they offer great premiums and are good with mods.

I went with nrma, as they were definitely the cheapest for me...

Ah thanks! I really should know their name considering I use them :o Strange that they were more then NRMA, I moved from NRMA to Ryno after an argument about mods and they were half the price. Others I know have had the same results. Shannons were 5 times the price for me and quite difficult to deal with. The guy from Ryno was really knowledgable.

Ryno will take about 2 weeks to respond via email too btw :(

Call them, best way to get a quote. :)

Maybe try some brokers too. I'm with one who are underwritten by CGU, but have their own Product Disclosure Statement and T&C. All the good insurance perks (reasonably low excess, hire car, free windscreen etc...), unlimited modifications, $635/year full comp (for my Calais). Insured for market value...but so was my JustCar quote which was over double the price. NRMA - hah, around $4k. AAMI? Won't touch me with a V8 as I'm 23.

That price is a special for employees of the company I work for (they also do great travel insurance too :D) but I've heard some brokers have excellent prices.

Cheers,
- Febs.

AAMI allow you to have three mod's and are well priced. I asked about twin turbo's for my R8, and they said 'No problem, as long as you dont have more than three modifications'... They only wanted $1500, and i have been disqualified from driving for speeding :)

I'm with AAMI as well, have been for years (I've had 'Maximum No-claim Bonus for Life' for some years now).

Agreed value on the VYIISS is $34,000, they're aware it's turbocharged, and my premium is $369.00

I'm currently making a claim (though I wasn't at fault), and it's gone VERY smoothly so far, though I don't have my car back yet.

Judging by what you guys pay for insurance, there's advantages in being a grey hair'd old fart (with a good claims record) when it comes to insurance premiums.

 ... $369 for a turbo charged V8 !!! That's amazing Al, nice work.

I have the Coupe covered through Shannons, all mods disclosed, 412ci stroker + single turbo, agreed value $95,000, < 8,000 kms pa ... $1,800 pa. Haven't tried Ryno but they were the best by far when I was shopping around.

Just has an interesting phone call with "Holden Insurance". They had no Holden product knowledge. "2006 commodores are VZ - you must be buying a VZ as there are no VE's listed". Ended up with a quote over $2,200.
Looks like I'll AAMI next.

thay said i can go for $1380 with $750 excess.
only waiting for a reply from ryno
now is it better to go for the $750 excess?

Did you use AAMI's premium offset feature to get such a cheap premium? :)

Sounds like a good option to me regarding the offset excess, only really gambling with $100 as $250 further excess but a reduction in premium by $150. Depends are you willing to risk the ~$100 should, god forbid, anything happen.

I have had no luck with AAMI, they said that they didnt know how Allan would have got insured as the wouldnt touch me and my car with its "Camshaft"

I will try Ryno and see what happens there.

Troy :)

P.S. Al I think your driving record and age must have helped you out man

aami were more than happy to insure me but their first quote was $14,900 but i managed to talk him upto $26,900. :slap:
i talked to shaun today from ryno told him i got reffered to him from ls1.com
the guy seemed genuinely happy about that so maybe he might do a decent deal.

Is this where you accept a higher excess? I know that I have, can't remember what my excess is though. might be $1000, I'll check tomorrow. (btw, excess is only charged by AAMI if you are the 'at fault' driver).

mmm...

I need to sort out insurance for an Avalanche...

up until last year I have always found NRMA to be the cheapest for me... until I wanted to do more modifications... I unfortunately was running short of time so just reinsured with them anyway.

seeing as though I am shopping around I might as well investigate the SS as well.

AAMI 3 mods... does this mean if you list Stereo, window tint and car bra, you are done?
