I'll be heading out to WSID in the lautray-mobile Wednesday 31/1 to run some numbers for 1st stage of mods: cam-only.
Anyone else planning on going for a run or 4 on the 31st?
Might head out and have a look-see :)

From BoM:
Wednesday Shower or two developing. SE winds.
City: Min: 21 Max: 25
West: Min: 19 Max: 33
Hopefully the forecast will keep the masses away, whilst still keeping dry until 10.01pm :D.
Rear rotors were changed back to stock today, so I am ready. Have "high" expectations as since cam, greatly increased sotp :D factor .

Last week it was called off around 8:30 due to rain.

My guess is it could be busy this week. :whip:

Well, what a shit night... after 18 months, 30,000+ km, 100+ runs & ~8 track days, old faithful OZ700 Tex seems to have "expired" . I guess I should be happy with that effort. Was having a hard time with gear selection last night... missed 2nd & 4th gear in the first run: 12.4 @ 109. Second run I had to really man-handle the shifter, but still missed 4th gear: 12.4 @ 111 with missed 4th gear. Then it drizzled, so we retired to the Eastern Creek Tavern for a couple of  .
Thanks to Team lautray (aka Russo Performance stooges ;)) for making the trip out: Duncan, Justin & Christian. Very much appreciated. Was a good social if nothing else.

I guess one way to view it is ... if a shit night nets 2 12.4 runs you aren't doing too badly !!!
Make sure you post up when you are going to have another shot at it, I'll try and make it out next time ... shame you couldn't get a clean run, but nice work regardless Mr K.

It's funny how 12.4 is considered shit by some lol.
Is it slipping at all? What were your 60' I suffered majorly from this every run at the private day and it gives you the shits missing simple gears like 2nd an 4th I did it a few times, but by the end of the return road ie the start line it had cooled and was good to go again - did not slip once.
It may not be stuffed it could be a slave/master cylinder not applying the presure required to disengage (or is it engage I always get that arse about) the clutch and allow it to slip as it should when pedal depressed and did it get better once cooled down or same?

Ah well, you cant run a pb evrytime you go out unforunately Erik....though 12.4s none too shabby considering you were missing gears :)
Still worth the drive for beers & a couple of games of better story at the tav though

12.4 = shit because since the cam, the car has much more drive right through the range. Was not driver error, rather hardware ie clutch related. If all was good, expecting 11.8/9 @ ~115mph. Oh well. Hopefully next time. No excuses.
Not slipping at all. Just couldn't get the gear in. Would find neutral ok though :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: .
Justin & Christian replaced the master cylinder last July/August.
When my stock clutch cried enough, the pedal got closer to the floor with lots of revs & every gearchange. This is what's happening now. Even after the burnout, clutch pedal soft & engage/disengage point closer to the firewall.
60's were 1.75 in right lane & 1.96 left, but as with the private day, the left lane was crap & right plenty of grip.

First I heard about it was this morning when lautray (Erick) rang me. Seeing as the clutch is not slipping yet.... I'd say it's still got some life left. At this point it could be a whole range of issues including the gearbox, which we are ready to help sort out and spend some time on with our experience.
As for the R&D work? Yeah; it never stops! :)

Yep, called Peter to let him know & talk about it. He offered some good advice & possible diagnosis. So, Justin & Christian will have a look in a week or so when they have the car to do the heads, & we'll go from there. Always positive customer service from Peter  . Good to have you on here too, man

We'll help you sort your shifts from this end.... Hey!.... Have you ever thought about an auto?..... :whip:
You should bring out your own range of torque converters Pete, to match your quality clutches.
Its really good to see people in business such as Pete and Sonny and others that give such good customer service and quality products :)

Erik: You really need a reality check DUDE :D, 12.4 is NOT shit and tis something that many of us strive to obtain someday. Your point is well noted and I congrats your first posted time post CAM install.

Welcome Pete ... good to have you here ...
:yep: it would be the very same pumpkin and the essence of the statement is 100% accurate.
Autos are for motorists and manuals are for drivers. :werd: :stick:
After much R&D and practice I have conclusively proven beyond all doubt that I AM NOT A DRIVER and pretty much everyone on the face of the living earth knows this. Hence it would seem an auto is the best band aid for me. I had hoped to never join the ranks of the limp wristed auto drivers but alas ... :D
As to the heckling nay sayer and his remark ... he does have a point, wise and pumpkin DO NOT belong in the same sentence, if my memory serves me correctly ... the phrase goes WISE AND OLD doesn't it Al? :D
PS: Welcome Mr Peter of the B Plan, good to have you here.

:hmmm: ... for some stupid reason I am driving a manual when I'm being a motorist and I jump in the auto when I feel like really going for a drive.

Anyway ... I actually agree with you, I'm just shit stirring ... and unfortunately I wasn't given the option with the car I just had to have.

Yes...A Ford Toploader..I think:)
Eric the 12.4 isn't too bad considering the situation, new Cam, Clutch problems & possibly the weather (too warm)....after doing 11.8 every other ET. will feel to slow..you'll get their...also what times were you expecting, not having any specs on the cam...I would expect 11.2 -11.4 or better
Cheers

I would hazard a guess low 11's would be some kind of record
11.2 ~ 11.4 might be a tad optimistic for a cam-only, especially for a car that hasnt been stripped

Goz, bolt-on pb was 11.9 @ 113. Was/am hoping for <11.9 @ >113. Cam 224/228 112lsa. It is definitely quicker, but I don't think by 0.4. Won't get the chance to run it cam-only again, so will never know.

would need to be a pretty chunky cam for those times Goz.. right at the pointy end, it would be none to friendly driving to the shops

Given the missed gears & going from what little experience I have.
I would say your cam only would be good for a 11.7- 11.9.
Last time I missed a gear it cost me 3 to 4 tenths & lost first elimination by .08. :headbang:
It was Duncans fault too!! Thanks for the sunblock.

Common Eric, here's a bloke who took a Un-Camed car into the 11.s...we never thought it could be done then...you can do it now....going off the 11.9 & not 11.8 as I thought....I think you can pull off a 11.5-11.6.
I have faith in you...
