Who would be up for some Endurance racing at Picton Karts?

E N D U R O R A C I N G
Minimum 6 TEAMS
Cost $150.00 per kart per hour

Itinerary
Official welcome & registration
Driver training & safety briefing
Warm up
Break
Race
1, 2 & 3 hours enduros
A minimum of 2 drivers per team
4 hours plus enduros a minimum of 1 driver extra per hour
Lap times recorded and provided
Optional presentation & trophies

Two drivers per team or four?.. one or two hours?

Extra drivers means you dont get worn out as much, but you have to change drivers, costing time.. Perhaps we could go for two hours, and have teams of 2~4 drivers? Either way, it's pretty cheap motorsport, and a good cruise to Picton actually (about one hour south of Sydney). Perhaps we could have lunch in town afterwards.

Thoughts?

Date pending ... abso-floggin-lutely.

As this is the only form of motor sport where I have managed to beat the Bus Racer I'm there !!! Bring it on ... :up2sum:

Thoughts ...

Number of drivers probably depends on how many sign up for the event ... I reckon probably 2 drivers would be good.

Length ... if 2 drivers I think 2 hours would be about as much as you could handle, if more drivers I think 2 hours would be a minimum to make sure you get heaps of laps.

Teams ... some thought may need to be put into the combinations, as weight seems to have a fairly huge effect with these things (which would be multiplied over several hours) it may be necessary to try and have the teams fairly even ... if at all possible.

Cruise down sounds good, probably don't need a car each, unless everyone wants that, and a lunch afterwards is a must.

What time of year where we thinking ... I have quite a few things on ATM and over the next few months but should be able to get it in there somwhere.

tigs and I are in !

I think 2 hours is probably as long as you would want it. 3 drivers per team tops.

Cruise, lunch, karting........bring it on I say !

Cheers,

Scott

Aint no go kart fast enough to carry my big arse around with any haste but will give this a red hot go.

Is there a handcap system? :D

As above, date pending ...

wheres Fatas?

C'mon man if you go I'll go! I would love to go but obviously I aint gonna be the fastest out there.

2 to 3 hours is more then enough, even after 20 minutes on one its still fun but it starts to knock you round a little bit and you sorta cant wait to get off - I think for taller people it starts to get a bit cramped.

I learnt it when I worked in Karting as a track attendant and we used to take the karts around the track at midnight to give them a good run down for the mechanics, after the 20 min mark you wanted to just get off the damn thing.

I guess now that the idea is out, I reckon a few kilo's will be shed by the time this date arrives (not me... I cannot afford any weight reduction.)

My thoughts:

2 driver teams
2hr enduro
Rotate karts to eliminate "dud" or "gun" possibility
Cruise there via natio & Appin rd

In like Flynn (depending on date).

The last karting day I went on with you blokes (that impromptu one at EC, probably well over a year ago) was great. :)

What are these karts like compared to the EC 13hp ones? I've been driving past the Picton site since I was about 2 years old (yeah, back when it looked like a marijuana plantation, and there was no track in site), but still haven't stopped for a go.

Dibs on being in Erik's team. :D

Cheers,

You want interesting ... draw teams out of a hat !!!

I'm keen depending on the date. Bad luck if you draw me out of the hat, those karts need more power to drag me around quickly.

Yup, I'd be keen, pending on date, have a small operation in 2 weeks so I'd need 4 weeks to get right for this.

Raced Super Kart for 5 years, have a picture of my old kart but my posting site is down at present.

2nd in NZ 250cc open street and major track champs in 1983.

Zip grand prix frame with Yamaha TD3 250 standing 1/4 in 9 sec dead.

Cheers

sounds interesting

2 drivers 2 hours, 1 hr driving each maybe a little too much. 1/2 hr on those and your buggered.

Kart changes a good idea, some are poorly setup on occasion and you can get a wide seperation in times by the same driver with a different kart.

i recall one enduro i was in at a track was 1st going into the finals, i get some kart that hadn't even been used yet. it was crap had no grip it all and i had trouble just staying on the track ended up 4 or 5th after that...i hate that....

be good if one person at the track set them all up for equal lap times first. and you could also use add on weights to even that out... then could keep the same karts.

maybe interested depending when.....

PS not on a 40deg C day pls
PSS i could bring my light son for my team he's quick.

Sounds the goods....

I like the rotate carts idea...

though it would mean you would have to break the rac into sections of say 1/2 hr... when everone comes in. swap and go out. laps and times are counted for each segment. and maybe have a print race of 10 mins at the end, where each team submits there fastest racer...

Like everyone else, I'd love to do this, but date dependant.

Like everyone - Im in date dependant.
235RWKW is right 20-30minute stint at the wheel of a hire kart is enough before you need a break.
So 2 drivers 2 x 30 minute stints each = 2hrs
or
3 drivers 2 x 20 minutes stints each = 2hrs
or
3 drivers 3 x 20 min stints each = 3hrs
or whatever.
Kart rotation is a great idea - last one I had at EC was a dog.

well I'm in

dunno if anyone wants to team up with me though, guaranteed to be the consistantly slow kart of the race ... as Marge Simpson says "Slow and steady wins the race" :eyes:

I wonder if they would let me use this one ... :up2sum:

All I need is for you to have a 500g steak some time in the week before the race, that will double your body weight and then you will be in real trouble.

All this trash talking ... I hope I can make it !!! :(

Guys and Gals,

Due to several upcoming events (ls1 nats, bathurst festival, dyno day, etc etc) we've decided to defer the Picton Karting ENDURO, in favour of....

a karting session AFTER the upcoming Dyno Day (http://www.trackchat.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=254) (as most people already have that notionally booked). SO... the idea is we head over to eastern creek around 3~4pm, for a session or two.

I will start another thread for the karting participants.

We hope to get to Picton for a two hour Enduro in the not too distant future though.
