The Bias Spring Kit is available from Holden Spares.
Part number 92147813. Cost $30.43 - Thats pleb price - trade would be cheaper still.
Warning: The parts interpreter behind the counter didn't know what I was talking about. The service manager did, and then a lady who must be a sub manager came out and talked to me about it.
She said "you know, you don't need this ... you know how to fix it don't you?"
"Oh, drive in reverse then pull up the hand brake?" I replied
"yeah" she said "or forwards, it'll make a god awful clunk, but it will re-seat the shoes"
"I want the noise to go away for more than two weeks" ;)
"ahh ... then get the kit"
She was saying that whoever I get to install the kit, will need to adjust the handbrake properly. As I'm going to do it myself, I don't know what that entails --- someone will enlighten me i'm sure.
So what's in the kit ?

Inside the box is a couple of springs, some metal and a set of instructions

The instructions are quite comprehensive

Will have to do a little research, before installing ... and hopefully this will fix the noise.
Updates to come. Unless others want to go out and get the kit and do it rather than wait for me.
Thanks for this Seedy
Is it $30 a wheel or the pair?
My HB is stuffed, doesnt work at all so will this fix that??
How exactly does this stop the swoosh swoosh?

As mentioned elsehwere if you guys can give me about a week I'm having an ex Holden head tech install the kit on my VX so I'll grab some pictures and some know how from someone whose done quite a few of them in his time.
I dont know much but I know adjusting the handbrake properly involves a pain in the ass rachet style setup on each hub which is an absolute prick to play around with.

Cmon Goofball harden the f#@! up.
Adjusting the handbrake on these cars is no different to the adjusting brakes on a drum braked Holden.
For old blokes like Seldo and I it brings back memories (not all of them good).
Back on topic this mod has been made to my car by Sonny it also helps the handbrake stay correctly adjusted.

Goof, any updates? I know I have to replace my park brake shoes as one is totally stuffed. Would like to do this mod at the same time if its worth it.

sorry guys I can't contribute more to this thread.
I was at Marrano's the other day and just threw the kit to Sonny.
Geeez its good now. Problem gone.
Sounds beautiful now .... well maybe that's going a bit too far ... but atleast it doesn't make the scrape noise anymore !!

Good to hear! :)
Any idea if it'll work with aftermarket brakes? The PBR PK1 kit in particular? Sounds like it's worth getting.
Cheers,
- Febs.

I'm pretty sure the park brake doesn't get replaced by any of the after market kits, so it should be good.

i've put the kit on.
pretty easy
adjustment is hard (at least on mine, my rears are hard to turn even with no parkbrake pads or disk pad fitted) so trying to work out drag on the park brake shoes isn't that easy. gave up on that method and just adjusted them up so the rotor would just slide on and off barely, that seems to work.
First side can you believe this i had it all done back together just putting the little rubber dust cap back on the adjuster hole. What happen it goes right inside, so had to pull everything off again just to get that so and so back out...
PS I fine it easier to remove the shock lower bolt so can just undo the two main complete caliper bolts easier with a ratchet.

Anyone know if this fixes the problem permanently? I have had this ever since I had the Harrop brakes fitted and it really bugs me :( Hopefully this kit may solve the problem. I wont bother if it is just a short term thing though.

I've just fitted this kit to try and eliminate the noise everyone is talking about. Mine only started after I replaced the rotors recently. :headbang:
At this stage it seems fixed but the handbrake now sounds like it's dragging. I think the brake place may have over adjusted the brake shoes.
Back to the shop it goes for reinspection next week. :headbang:

Is that on the goon, Dave? I am up for some new handbrake shoes very soon, as they wore very unevenly & one lot of the friction material pads is non-existent. Assuming this kit will distribute wear evenly?

WOW
You must "drive it like ya stole it" all the time.
Actually, we know you do :)
When I got my kit I said to the lady selling it that i'll pick up a new set of handbrake shoes aswell (they were only another $35 or so).
She said "I doubt they'll be worn at all. They last forever. Have a look once the rotors are off, then replace if needed."

I'd definitely advise everyone to have a good look. I was  when I saw mine. And no, I don't do handbrake turns :). But perhaps the police did when they originally had the car???

:yep: In the G-Hoon.
When I changed the rear rotors the drivers rear didn't want to come off. I couldn't get to the adjusters so resorted to some "gentle encouragement" :headbang:
Hence unseated the drivers side hand brake shoes :headbang: and wouldn't reseat :headbang: ... hence the kit fitted. :headbang:
Oh well ... molycarbides alround seem like a good thing thus far fitted with Fereodo EXCELS (next step down from TS2000 I think ).

 ... haven't you done this before ???
You should have gone at it with an air-chisel ... they are gold on rear brakes.

were everyone else's rears (even with the disk off) hard to turn. i was using 2 nuts on the studs and a jack bar and it was hard to rotate them. although disk was only off one side at a time, both wheels up.
Was going to remove the rear axles and see how easy to turn then, but could not be bothered undoing them on the day. more work lol...

Anyone know what size torx bit the anchor bolt is? Largest I had was T45 and it didnt fit! So annoying because we removed both sides only to find that we didnt have the necessary bit :swear:
