Does anyone know what the fuel tank capacity of a VY sedan is ??? I have searched on LS1 but all I can find is lots of conflicting answers ranging from 65 - 80 litres.

I have always thought it was 70 litres ... thought maybe Mr Bus Racer maybe the foremost authority after his excursion to Melbourne.

75 liters Mr S. Get your owners manual out and have a look for a table of capacitys. It's in there with oil, transmission and other fluid levels.

Thanks Bomi ... I thought my 70 litres (BTW ... liters is US version :D ) might be wrong when I managed to put 69.90 litres in this morning

Although, it confirms that I probably have about 25kms in reserve after my readout hits 0 kms to empty.

Re; the handbook, I have the Coupe 4 book, I have the Avalanche book, stuffed if I know where I have put the SS book. As the other 2 aren't even sedans I figured there was no point even looking. :D

In my owners manual there is no mention as to the fuel tank size, so i found out the hard way (over flow! ::o )

Ive heard its best to fill up the tank either before the servo closes at night, or very early in the morning as by this time the bowsers liquid gold hasnt 'expanded' in size. Therefore your actually getting a bit more than for what you pay for :D

fuel expands with heat, there for the colder the fuel is the more you can put in, however with something like a car tank it is basically un-noticeable.

i have fueled 747s, then its noticeable.

the colder the fuel is the better it is for combustion, it is denser and generates higher BTUs.

with aviation fuel they dont actually measure the amount of fuel they measure the weight of the fuel. (density) depending on temperature its approximately .790kg per litre. well thats for kerosene, not too sure with petrol.

some facts for you there.

lol and incase you were wondering a 747 fully fueled for an LA flight holds about 200,000kg of fuel

Specific Gravity (SG) of AVGas = .71. Pretty sure pump fuel has similar SG.

avgas is highly refined petrol, has an octane of 110+ depending on the fuel.

AVtur, is turbine fuel, its a highly refined kerosene, which has a different SG.

Cheers for that. Yep, Avgas 100/130 (Green) =.71. Knew Jet-A1 was a little more :) .

And back to original topic: definitely 75L Nick.

SG hey?

We (nurses/docs) check that when we test peoples piss for abnormality..... Still havent quite figured out why but ill research as to why and get back.

Dunno how piss relates to fuel, but Patches O'Hoolian digs it hahah
