Hi guys,

I have been reading through the brake change threads as I am about to have my new Harrop package fitted and I recalled a post from something I asked ages ago. It is described in the following posts:

Basicly it seems to suggest that you can not properly flush the brake system without a tech II? Is that correct? Has anyone had any issues when not using this method?

Pulse I dont believe that, but there could be some truth to it. Sonny does it without T2. I have done heaps without T2.

And my pedal feels great!!

You can do it yourself or pay someone to do it man.

Im interested to see what Matt from RBS has to say on this.

Matt???

Drop Matt an PM if you want man.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Daniel i think technically thats right (to get fluid out of th ABS module) but I dont see why you need to do it to get "back your strong pedal" - i think he must have done something else wrong.

Most people bleed the brakes without purging this ABS module, and have nil issues (I've never had a problem).

Maybe some of the brake gurus can comment

As mentioned by the other guys Daniel, I have done it a dozen times on my car and several other cars & never had a problem.

Easiest way to approach it is not to let the reservoir run out whilst fitting the brakes. If possible, have the brake line already fitted to the caliper when you fit it and before you release the brake line from where it connects to the body. This way you're only getting air in the line between where it connects to the body and the caliper.

This can then be bleed out and you can flush the system by bleeding all the lines thoroughly in individual efforts ... if that makes sense???

I'm not sure that helps, but in a nut shell ... don't let the reservoir run completely dry and you shouldn't have any problems.

Cheers.

I'll jump on the list of those that have bleed the brakes without Tech 2 and had no problems ... :waving:

Putting Harrops on your V6 Ryan or do you have a new car?

Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like the numbers have it. I can't imagine that there would be an issue going on these replies. I dont have the confidence to fit them myself anyway so I am in the hands of the fitter.

cheers!

Daniel

If ur really concerned about the fluid in the abs, which you dont need to as the fluid passes thru the unit before it gets to the brakes, though if you were, theres away to do it, while the cars running and wheels of the ground, spinwheels round while applying the brakes, this will cuase the abs valves to pulse hence passing fluid thru it,i have only done this dozen or so times as it was requested by the customer, though doing it the normal way does the same thing,as like i said, the fluid must passthru the abs unit before going to the brakes :)
