has anyone run 255 RE55's on a commodore/monaro?

The 245 RE55's are actually closer to 260mm wide, so the 255's are probably around 270mm wide.

I wonder if they will fit?

Also, i wonder if an 8" rim is wide enough.

Dunc I would be interested also. I assume you mean for the rear only. I think it would be close.

The question about fitting properly on 8" rims, I would say definately not! The reason is I have seen 255 and 265 street tyres on 8" rims and although they go on, its a bit scary with the amount of overhang they have. For the street I can see they would be okay, but for circuit racing might be a bit scary/risky. Considering they would measure more like 270.

Hi Hazza, yeah for the rears only. I run 225's on the front (measure 235) which enables me to get some decent camber in. I just called Kym Davis and they dont do a 255 in 18" anyway. I think they do a 255/17" though.

This is what the overhang looks like with 245's

Hmm.. doesn't look too bad with the 245's. How much clearance do you have under the guards and on the inner side with the 245's? If there is a cm or more then they would probably fit. Don't know much about tyre overhang from an engineering point of view though?

Btw the 18" RE55's are about $410 each. Six months ago they were $370 each (grrrrr)

I use the 245 RE55 for extra traction at the drags.
My car has been lowered and it only just touches the rear pass side guard during a very hard launch.
I love em, they're a bloody good tyre.
The tyre was mounted to a standard 18x8" VY SS rim.
