Spent a few hours in January with Dale at CHE using their dyno. Learnt to use HPTuners (a little). Thanks to Dale for helping us out, & Duncan, aka Maroubra speedshop, for talking me into giving home-tuning a go.

Here was the result of the Cam only.

Cam specs: 224/228 112lsa ~56x lift?

http://www.trackchat.com.au/media/data/500/medium/Cam_only_dyno_charts_0001_2.JPG

Couldn't translate this into a worthwhile time at wsid as the car had mechanical issues (my excuse anyway ;)), but managed 2 12.4's missing gears.

Previously, bolt-on dyno was 260rwkw with Dick's rtls1 tune on a Dynolog dyno, so not exactly apples with apples. Ran pb of 11.91 @ 113 Bolt-on, but sotp is much, much stronger now.

Russo heads to go on this week.

I was wondering when i was going to see a post about this. I popped in said hi to the team whilst this was going on. A good day was had a heap of interesting stuff learnt. Big thanks to Dale and CO for letting me be there and the beverage afterwards was very nice.

Anyway great numbers to start with Eric.... I am waiting eagerly to see how much of an improvement heads actually make.

Keep the info comming.

Impressive Erik. 280 plus RWKW and Melbourne to Sydney on 1 tank of fuel.

I'm looking forward to seeing what this thing will run at WSID, especially in the cooler months.

Cheers,

Scott

Before some start querying the "low" nm curve, I think you'll find it is the difference between a Dyno Dynamics dyno & a Mainline Dynolog dyno. This is a previous dyno sheet (bolt-on; filter in/out test) on a Mainline dyno done by Todd:

http://www.trackchat.com.au/media/data/500/medium/dyno_sheet_iii_17_nov_2005.JPG.

The top curves are the torque. The figures are much higher than the DD dyno. Don't think my car has lost 200Nm somehow  .

Are we to assume by the new avatar that someone has been to a Dyno following a certain headjob.

Impressive results as always, well done to those involved:bravo:

Funny how my avatar changes without my input ;) .

Dale put the car on the dyno today & it made 305rwkw. The afr's were a fair way out, up to 1 afr point rich ie between 11.4 & 12.0 (long story) & there was definitely a few more kw to be had. Apparently not too shabby for tri-y's though. The 4>1's & 3" cats will be going on shortly.

I'll post up dyno sheet soon.

great results Erik.

I see two very quick cars at the Wakefield day. Interested in what fuel consumption you can get out of it once the tune's sorted. The heads should improve things a little so awesome power and awesome fuel econ.... you'll soon have the greenies selling their Prius's and lining up for one of them thar >300 rwKw C'dore thingy's!!!!

The Russo brothers fitted some Di Filippo 1 3/4 4>1 headers & 3" cats (thanks Dale ;)) yesterday. Went out to CHE with Dunc today to gauge how well they flow. Was an "interesting" result. "Interesting" because it showed just how well the old Wildcat 1 5/8 tri-y's flowed. Final result was 310.6rwkw, or 415rwhp in the old scale. The head/cam with the tri-y's dyno'd in at 305.7, but with quite a rich tune. So, optimised, it would have pulled closer to 310rwkw. Nothing ventured, nothing gained imo. But, am told that the catback is a restriction, so will look at a dual 3" soon. Apparently the 4>1 will allow better flow for later mods.

Thanks to Dale & the CHE boys for their time & friendly advice :).

Here is the chart:

Red line line is cam-only: 296.5rwkw
Blue line is head & cam: 305.7rwkw
Green line is head & cam with DF 4>1: 310.6rwkw

Eric,

Thats a good result and no doubt with a new cat back those di fillipo's will flow better. Still 5rwkw gain is a gain. Looks like your mod path is comming together nicely.

A gain is a gain Erik, some good ripping through the gears should see you well into the 11's mate.

Definate good gain in torque with the heads though.

Today I spent a couple of hours out at Castle Hill Exhaust to quantify the the CHE dual 3". After tweaking the tune (;)), we found that the car made max power without having max timing (substantially less in this case). Here's the result:

The red line is head & cam with the old dual 2.5" & the blue line is the new CHE custom dual 3". Is good for 7rwkw, or 10hp, & some Nm in the mid-range too :D.

Hoping for some improved mph at wsid tomorrow.

Next & lastly (I think) will be the ported ls2 manifold & Holley 90mm.

let the road tuners put that in the pipe and smoke it! when Eirk is saying it made more power less timing it was over 10rwkw with a lot less timing than the car has ever run before..
