I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooo not in a financial position to be getting them right now. But its killing me that they're available at that price.
Of course I then need to upgrade my wheels to fit them.
ughhh
Pity Dave got Drews wheels :) Glad it was him that took advantage of Drew when he was bent over, and not some stooge
Gosh I don't know what to do.
A big sale of all my spares is about to happen I think

Will be interesting to see your results Nick, I am still happy with my Harrop street performer kit purchase (still havent driven the car in anger with them on actually) but the Holmart deal is fantastic value for a brand new AP based big brake kit. 350mm front discs are pretty awesome to! I think the HSV kit even come with Ferrodo DS2500 pads. You could basically get the whole lot fitted for $3k which is hard to beat even with second hand Harrops!
I probably would have chosen this option if I hadnt have scored the Harrops as I wanted APs initially but the big kits were so pricey. Nice score to all those who got them. Would be interesting to hear some reports on their performance.
Edit: Actually I just thought about it and adding those brakes to my car would go against my distaste for putting HSV logos on Holdens so maybe I wouldnt have :D

:D I figured it was better than you hassling Drew with your hippy derived deodorant Seedy :D
T'was a good score on the wheels and thanks to Drew for the sale. I should have them repaired (well as much as I can repair them) by this Sunday and will get some pics on the pumpkin shitebox.
A good source informs me that 18's are for pooftas  yet I see he is now attempting to source these very wheels ... :lmao:

Its funny actually, with all this rim size talk it makes me recall pre VE discussions where everyone was bagging out 20s, and scoffing at the idea of the GTS having this size rim. Now look, 20s are commonplace for a VE commodore and a factory option on an SS! Not to mention they did in fact become standard at HSV. That trend didnt take long to materialize did it? :) Still I love 19s for the look on PRE VE cars but 18s for function. Anyway sorry for interrupting the fun

Exactly right ... I didn't think anyone expected the huge wheels to either (a) look so right on the VE (I still think bigger than 19 looks wrong on < VE) or (b) ride so well.
The GTS on 20s rides WAY better than any Holden I Have ever driven ... on any size rim. I never thought the ride on 20s could be that good.

Same with the SSV on 19's - far better ride than the vx on 17's with stnd fe2 suspension.

VE has an amazing suspension/chassis configuration imo. It was always the worst part of the VT-VX cars to me. They can be made to handle really well but the ride always suffers to an extent, the VE seems to be able to do both and run the huge tyres. Nice one Holden!

"Mobil Super DOT 4 Heavy Duty Hydraulic Brake Fluid"Plenty good enough, especially when you have to flush after every track day. Relatively inexpensive compared to Dot 5.1 too :D.

Dave (Tiger SS) and Luke (SSUte01) both live in Medowie, just North of Newcastle.
Hence any work done in either ones garage / driveway is done at "Medowie Speed Shop" ... makes it work better when it has a cool name.

Like when I was a young bloke I lived at 289 Miller St Nth Sydney and it was known to all and sundry as "The 289 Club". We converted the laundry to a very flash bar complete with tiled brick bar and a full selection of coloured drinks on the shelf....;) It was witness to many a .....ermm....good time. ;) ;)

does anyone know how the pad retaining brackets work with these calipers?
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/2093000-2093999/2093316_102_full.jpg
Do you have to knock out the two pins?
It looks different to my other AP calipers.

yes knock the pins out, when you put them back in put one pin in completely then make sure the anti rattle clips is locked under all the way, then fit the other pin. make sure the pins are all the way home, if not they can come out.

thanks for that.
So a light tap with a hole punch or something and they just pop out?

yeah light tap is enough, you will see how the clip on the pin works when you get it out

Dunc ... is it right that these pins only need to be touched when changing pads ??? I assume when fitting the brakes we leave all that alone ?
Medowie Speed Shop most likely knows all this stuff ... can't wait to get them on the car. I'm actually doing a few things to get the SS more appropriate for some track work, the Coupe 4 is a keeper and I really don't want to kill it with track work, plus the SS is a manual so it's better suited anyway ... should be fun.

Correct, for initial install you should be able to position the caliper (with pads fitted) over the fitted rotor.
For subsequent pad changes we'll need to remove these pins though.
