my Mrs doesn't mind driving mine at all. It's very progressive (certainly not 'on boost' or 'off boost'), it's just a case of squeeze the throttle and stop squeezing when she's making 'enough' mumbo.

Hey listen, does anyone know the deal with performance shops driving your car at the drags? The shop doing my car would like to come to the drags and ls1 nats to support me but i feel that if anyone is going to break my car i would like it to be me. Do they usually fork out if they break it? sorry to act so dumb but i dont have a clue, hence the question

They'll expect you to drive it, but will assist with advice and setup. It's up to you if you want someone else to give it a run, but it's still at your risk (assuming that you're carrying signage promoting their busines, it's possible/probable that you'll get 'mates rates' for any costs that may be within their control should a breakage occur.... but remember that lots of the parts that could 'possibly' break are bought in items).

It's the old story.... you play, you pay!

Salutation Kiwi,

Ah yep I remember the Merc .. he and I sitting in the staging lanes. I looked across and thought to myself "Shit ... I can't let this thing beat me ..."

Please thank your friend for making me get the wood out and run a 12.5 @ 112. :woohoo:

Very nice bit of gear the Merc and good times that it ran considering the heat and full street trim. Now to get you VX weapon to "our" drag day in June and see what it does with some seriously cool weather. Any chance your friends might come along again?

start out nice and easy to get the feel of it. Don't worry about times or beating the guy in the other lane, first learn to launch it and get your 60 ft times down. Back off at 3/4 track 'cause if you run under 11 sec's they'll kick you out! (not a problem at LS1 Nationals as Heathcote Pk is not an ANDRA track).

As said elsewhere, head out to WSID with the CHE guys, they'll help you heaps. Let us know when you're heading out as I'll pop out as well if I can.

LOL Kiwi. Its fair dinkum mate. I'm not sure on a newly built engine, you'd have to check with the engine builder. If its from the factory though, get stuck right into it from the moment you turn the key. I've even heard of some dealers telling new buyers "I want to see 2 black lines up the road when you leave here".

Cheers,

Scott

That is your best bet ... however with a factory engine I wouldn't worry what the dealer says, give it everything from day one and do not under any circumstances leave it 15,000kms before you change the oil, again, no matter what the dealer says !!!

my old HZ kingswood i ran in for 1000km, changed oil at 500km then again at 1000km. as soon as i get the car back i will be driving it to my eyes start popping out my head to get as many k's on it so i can got to the strip asap lol

well i was down at cv performance today watching the car being tuned and im really happy with it, it has a really deep note and sounds awesome. Kiwi best to speak with your engine builder about running in, he will give you best advice. For example my motor has quiet big piston to bore clearances the same with main bearings and with the type of rings Im running (JE plasma molly rings) it didnt require alot of k's on it before you could really lean on it.
