Took my ute down for a beauty treatment on Saturday morning to Sparkles @ Toowong.... cars fantastic after a bit of work down there, full machine polish etc....

Luckily for me the boys spotted this!!!!

Suxs have a spotless car parked with a dirty old spare tyre on it!!!

The wheels is completely unmarked... no gutter rash or any thing.... dam annoying.

put the wheel on a tyre balancing machine to see if it still nice and round. If it's not, they'll probably say 'due to under inflation of tyre' or 'looks like you've hit a big pot hole'.

I hope they look after you and replace it though.

I had the easy part of this story.

Dropped the wheels off to Jase @ Pearson Automotive bright and early Monday morning.

Keith McKay's Tyre & Mechanical picked up the wheel from there, and contacted the BSA wheel rep who came out and looked at it Tuesday. Took the wheel agreed that it was shagged and said it would be replaced under warranty.

Once the BSA QLD rep contacted head office in Sydney, the nice little girl on the phone said... no warranty.... need proof of purchase.

Proof of purchase was never gunna happen, i bought the car 2nd hand, the dealer traded it 2nd hand with the wheels.

Old mate BSA QLD, informed the tyre shop of HQ's decision to which the tyres shop said, if this is how your company handles warranty claim for its branded wheels, dont expect any business out of me.

BSA QLD rep agreed with him and said its a complete load of bullshit to even have to produce proof of purchase cause it's clearly a faulty BSA wheel.

After BSA Sydney HQ then again saying, well no proof of purchase I dont send the wheel out until it's paid for.... QLD fella decided that was totally ridicous and contacted the International HQ in China and said, this crap aint good enough. The wheel's screwed, its a warranty job blah blah blah.

Anyway, new wheel is on it way to Brisbane and should have it on the car by Friday, all covered under Warranty. :smiles:

Cheers to Jase, Leon @ Keith McKay's Tyre & Mechanical & BSA QLD rep... sorry it caused so many arguements for ya's. Atleast you all know where you stand for future references.

Paul.

Thats a great result Paul. Even better that they handled it for you.

I like the QLD BSA reps attitude and good on him for taking it up further for you.

Cheers,

Scott

I had the exact same thing happen to one of my 19" Koyas.

Id been to Melb on the friday and then went to wash it on Sat morning to find a crack like yours.
After some 13 weeks while another boat load of wheels arrived, I got a replacment under warranty.
It was a blessing in disguise really as I found the cheap shit Wanli tyres had cracks in the tyre walls on 3 out of 4 tyres. Wanli dist tells me its from under inflation and that it should have been inflated to 44psi.

I told em to prove that I didnt have them inflated to 44 and had my local tyre mob back me in saying that I did indeed inflate them that hard.
Fact of the matter was that I ran them at 38ish and no tyre should need to be inflated that hard to be reliable. Cocksuckers.

44psi or the sides crack ...

As you say, if a tyre needs to be that hard or they break there is something seriously wrong with the tyre. I have mine set at 38psi all the time, should be more than enough in any tyre.

Good stuff Paul, old mate from BSA Qld did the right thing IMO. Glad tis being fixed as they're a tippy top looking set of rims.

Can't help but have a little chuckle at the above though  Can everyone say arse reaming in Chinese?

It's deja vu!!!!

Noticed this upon arrival at work today..... gee im dam excited about all of this happening again!!!

Not on the same side as the last one.

It really has me stumped as to why this is happening now??

Almost identical crack to the last one, to say im losing confidence in the wheels is an understatement.

I would be to nervous to have wheels with issues like that on my car! Replace them I reckon. Just for your own safety. On the plus side that is a top customer service from the tyre shop and the BSA QLD rep. Pathetic from the BSA HQ.

Jeez Chowny - that's pretty scary! I'd be suggesting you want a whole new set and just quietly asking if they thought ACA would be a bit interested in the story....
That's just not good enough and seriously suggests to me that they need a full recall before someone gets killed. Just not acceptable

That is scary. I'd be requesting a new set for sure. Dont most wheels have a lifetime structural warranty? I know ROH wheels do.

Yeah im lead to believe so, I will be chasing a complete new set for the wheels. Im still lost as to why its happened, i carry bowling balls mainly in there and 6 of them is only 60kgs max.

The rep the tyre shop dealt with last time is currently on holidays until the 12/11/07 and im happy to wait for him to return.

Until then the spare tyre will be gettin a run... makes for a great look... not.

Hmmm....don't know too many blokes that need a ute to carry their balls around....Congratulations - I'm in awe...;)
Seriously though, if you've had 2 crack, how many others are out there that are on the way...? The manufacturer really should do a recall before someone gets hurt

Damn mate!!!

Thats bad news :(

Don't risk it, replace the whole set with something else.
I know it probably doesn't sound nice but get your new warranty wheel and sell them to someone else.
Maybe even tell them you replaced two under warranty to make yourself feel better :yep:

Resolution finally!!!

After man weeks of waiting for a replacement wheels to come in, it proved it wasn't going to happen any time soon. Upgraded from 17's to 18's.

So to fix it up they rang and told me to go and pick some new wheels. Pretty happy with the ones i picked up to replace the old ones.
