I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me. On Saturday morning on the way back from Sonny's I was giving it a bit over the Gladesville bridge and at around 4000rpm my Monaro stuttered badly and then kept reving. I didnt think much of it but when driving to CHE it did it again, same revs only when given a boot. The car has been feeling sluggish for quite a while and is not very responsive and feels very slow.

Its mechanicaly stock M6 Monaro other then the extractors, opened cats and twin 2.5" exhaust. It has 8500kms on it. Not much to go on I know but does anyone have any thoughts?

Dodgy fuel or filter? Or intake / throttle issue?

If you think you can induce it happening again, we can log it if you like.

when you say it "kept reving" did it rev by itself or following the throttle as you would expect

Thanks for the kind offer Duncan, I dont think I can replicate the issue as it seems to be random, by reving I mean as it happens I start to take my foot off the accelerator but it then comes good and you can keep it going (if that makes sense). I might take the intake apart to have a look.

I will be embarased if it is just a fuel issue, it was Ultimate 98 (all I have ever used) from the same place as normal but what does that mean these days.

i have had a few bad batches of 98, so i swapped over to the shell, havent had so much of a problem , but the shell is also a new servo so the tanks are probably a big factor

2 things you can check yourself ...

1. Check each of the leads from the coil packs to the plugs for any that might be loose.

2. If MAF still in place, check that the clamps are done up tight where it fits into the MAF pipe and onto the airbox.

Both of these could be possible causes for the symptoms you are experiencing and will most likely only arise when the engine is under load. Worth a try and free to do.
