I had a Ported Fast 90mm installed today and a 90mm TBA TB. I havent had a chance to tune it fully yet. But the initial impresion is that its considerably quicker than before. I barely could notice the extra push in the back from a recent set of 1"7/8 Difilippo's which i think gained around 0.12s ET. But i can feel this difference clearly, so im am pleased with the result so far.

Nice work Steve. I am interested in this mod route for intake myself. Perhaps ported ls2 manifold & TBA 90mm t/b though. I think Martin (Uncle) has gone or is going this way. Must be considerably better than ls6 manifold / ported & polished 74mm t/b for head/cam combo.

good to hear. from what ive heard is that although there is usually some power gains with the tb its the response and drivability of the tb that gets most people excited. whats the point of having power if you dont feel it, you dont have to be flat all the time to get the buzz, theres nothing like tapping that right pedal at any where in the revs and having that awsome surge. its funny i never really felt the difference in power the 4-1 extractors made, it was mostly the sound they brought out the engine that got me excited. its going to be weird going to std cast manifolds on the ute. they just dont sound anywhere near as good imho.

A caliper was put to the heads and the manifolds today and the ports certainly are a few mm wider and have a good long straight run.
The LS6 manifolds ports were a 3-4mm narrower than the intake ports in the heads. Now the Fast intake is close to the same size as my inlet ports.
The 90mm looks good and makes the 80mm BBK look like a baby.
Throttle response is vastly improved as well.
Erik the larger manifolds and TB are certainly worth a gain on any ls1 especially with a bigger cam. The BBK 80mm along with metal cats gained my car 11rwkw across the curve last year over a Ported TB and hiflow cats.
