I know our cars generally come with 8" wide rims, but can we run 235 or 245 width rubber on 7.5" wide rims?

the tyre manufacturers actually recommend 8.5" rims for 235 tyres. 7.5" and you'll get a lot of tyre roll.

As Allan said, you could probably do it but I wouldn't recommend it ... especially not for track work, I'd be worried about popping the tyre off the rim mid corner, they would be pulled right in that's for sure.
Can I ask why you want 7.5" rims ??? Is it so you can dial in more camber, would the thinner rim with same tyre give you more clearance ?

Erik, you can and I don't know if this helps much but the preferred "chaser" rims that are used for Mickey Thompson ET streets are 15 x 7" and comfortably run 235" Mickey Thompson so I imagine 7.5" shouldn't be a problem.
Add to this that OEM tyres for Holden Commodore 17" x 8" rims are 235/45/17. 0.5" difference. Not sure that answers your question or not but BUY SOME BLOODY RIMS ALREADY !!! :waving:

Erik, you talking bling-bling wheels or strip wheels?
I picked up 15 x 8" chaser rims to run ET streets
NVU melbourne was selling them

Why is that? I have seen many rims that are 7.5 wide for commodore. Hence the query. Not sure if I like the idea of 7.5 though.
They would be for daily driver duties only. Not race at all.
