Whats the cost? I've trolled the WSID website and cant find competitors fees, but may be suffering domestic blindness?

Can't make this.... I'm forced to eat prawns, oysters, fish, occy, Balmain Bugs, Callamari, etc etc plus drink copious quantities of beer/wine each and every Good Friday (It's a fishing club tradition).

Hope to see you out there Wade. I'm not racing, so Rich will borrow my slicks, we will do a bit of weight removal and hopefully pull a number. (Weather permitting of course.)

I went out there today but it was all over within about 30 mins of me arriving (about 4:30pm), I don't know if the track ended up drying out but due the sun disappearing and a sopping wet track I left at about 6:00pm.
Didn't see any cars I recognised out there which was a shame, did anyone from here race?

i was in the grandstand and watched your passes mate, get some bloody new tyres man lol. tehy fully race preped the track in front of my eyes but rain kept stuffing it up (twice). The first two cars were still going sideways at the 400 mark so they preped it. your car looks bloody good down there mate.

If that was preped my tyres are cactus as all 3 of my passes I was fighting the car all the way to the finish, squirming like a wet mop. Also my second pass I was the second car after the first rain stopage and it didnt feel good at all, could even watch the tacho busy watching left wall, right wall, left wall, right wall.
I think that could be the answer why its not performing like it should be, definately something is not right.

...Didn't see any cars I recognised out there which was a shame, did anyone from here race?I ran my Cosmo VY SS M6 along with a friend who bought his 383 Jensen and his brother with a white 360 Charger. The air was good (compared to the LS1 Forum 41C day earlier this year!) and the Charger made him happy with an 11.96 after its previous best of 12.2. I got there at 12:00 noon, but still only got 3 runs in.

I was stoked that my SS ran 13.41 at 102.4 mph, with only a VZ maf pipe, 2 hole mod and a tune. That was 1 second quicker than in January, so I left a happy man even if we didn't get many runs.

Had a chat to both those guys (Jensen and Charger), that charger sounded tuff.

Well done John:bravo: A great improvement Was this done on your old tune? A second would feel so much quicker down the strip.

I second that. That certainly is high-tailling it in a 'stocker', nice pedalling.

Thanks Luke. It was pedalled too- I can still smell burned clutch ;).

Well done John A great improvement Was this done on your old tune? A second would feel so much quicker down the strip. Thanks Tony. The tune is virually the same as I had in January - most of the fiddling I've done since is in lean cruise mode. I made sure I had enough advance to run quick (24? vs 16? in January). It sure does feel faster up top, but the bottom end's better too.

I've got an 85mm MAF to put in and I'm waiting on an adapter cable before I splice a Corvette MAF table into the tune.

Very good fun :yep: ,

Wouldn't a VZ MAF (85mm) curve be a better base? I guess it doesn't really matter because you are going to tune it anyways.

Look forward to your thoughts on this mod.

I'm not sure why Luke. Ross on the EFILive forum suggested any 85mm MAF table, and it's easy to find a Corvette tune. The MAF is actually a truck MAF anyway I think. Is there something that would make the VZ MAF table better?

I was logging about 96 to 97 kPa MAP an both the 14.4 second setup and the 13.4 second setup (maybe logged 94 on the earlier tune occasionally, but that might be crud on the MAF screen). It will be interesting to see if the bigger MAF allows it to read BARO at WOT.

BTW- Thanks for not recommending an SD tune! As you can appreciate, it's not just about the number of kw ;), even though I may eventually have to delete the MAF.

John,

The only reason why I said VZ MAF curve was because I figured that yours would have the most similarities (intake and exhaust) to a VZ vs a Corvette. Since the curve is merely a model of airflow, it doesn't really matter which you start with as long as the end curve models your car. Depending on the Vette you choose, the Vette curve will probably see you a little richer than a VZ to begin with, but like I say, that is by the by.

FWIW, 97kPa depending on the BARO on the day (i'll assume 101.3) is a loss comparable with a good OTR with filter in at max rpm, they will typically show close to BARO (lose ~1kPa) at about 3000 and then consistently drop away to a loss of 3-5kPa at max rpm, so nothing to be worried about there.

Oh yeah, nothing wrong with a MAF tune, just another method of modelling airflow and the 85mm MAF is bigger than a std TB and manifold anyways, the only disadvantage between it and an OTR is intake path is not quite as direct. In many instances the MAF tuning approach is the more applicable, both SD and MAF approaches have their advantages IMO.

Nice work.
Luke :)
