Gday All

My brother and I were a bit bored on the weekend, so i decided to get out the old corolla and make a track down the back of our paddock.

This is the old girl. It was wholesaled to us for $500, but was going to be too much to fix up. It had been sitting at the mechanics, so we thought why not put it to use. Its a 1988 model, with the power pac 1.4l carby 4k (i think?) and 5 speed manual. Toyota do make a good car, because we cant seem to kill it!

The only thing it dosent like is holding a charge. Just means we park it on a sloap, so it easy to push start.

We set out a track with witches hats to use all the available space. This is what we came up with.

Its not too bad a track, except with all the dust (not sure where Troy lives in Wagga, but he probably saw all the dust we made :D ) This is the best Corner, it will be good with a RWD car me thinks!! :bravo:

Because of the dust we didn't keep at it too long, but 26.32 secs was the fastest we managed! Will keep this thread updated as we go.

There are a few mods planned along the way. These will be the first to go on...

Now we just have to wait for some rain and we can have some real fun!

James

PS. I think it needs a TrackChat sticker to replace the Roxy one!

Thats really cool James. Setting up a rally track in your backyard, so to speak.

Great stuff. When it does rain, make sure you get some video footage ;)

Cheers,

Scott

Nothing like a bushbasher and a flat open space. Love it. :D

Now that's cool ... everyone needs either a paddock, or a mate with a paddock !!!

I remember doing a similar thing with some mates in high school, except we were having races between a 4 wheeler and a Landcruiser ... :lmao:

Those were the days, make sure you keep us updated.

took the corolla to the motorkhana/khanacross today. came first in the motorkhana and around the middle in the cross. had a ball, the rolla sounds pretty mean now without the muffler!

You're damn right Toyota make good cars...I've got your paddock basher's younger sister, 212,000km on the clock already (and ony 9.5 years old!) yet still going strong.

I wondered what was going on in the horizon the other night in sunny Wagga. I thought it was a fire somewhere but I guess it was you guys practicing :lmao:

Keep us posted guys!

HaHa, thanks for the replys!

As Matt said, we made a few changes to the car. Last year we cut down some Commodore springs to stiffen up the front end a little. Those went in, along with the tyres so Matt could use it on sunday. We also decided to take the back muffler out, which made it sound like a truck. I didnt get to hear/drive it at full noise, so im not sure if it had any effect.

We are now waiting for some rain so that we can use our track again... hopfully soon we will have some! The next step is to strip some weight out of it!! Ill also try and get some pics up, im not sure if Matt got any on the day, and i havnt really seen it since we did the work.

Regards
James
