Justice has posted up a few results on LS1. Still not much in the way of results and nothing relating to the DYO class comps (except Lautray's runner-up result).
Craig (Cappa ute) 8.2
HSV105 12.1 @ 116 (Coupe 4)
Higgins 9.4 @ 147 mph (n/a)
and BigShaun, had problems (this was maiden outing for his new car) but ran 170 mph half track and ran out of gears   .

Duncan new engine went well.
Dunc, you forgot to mention there is a fair bit more in your car than the 126mph as it seemed to be turning the tyres for a fair way down the track.

More importantly, how did you and the 'red devil' go. Specifically I mean, if you wanna share that is. I believe you migh've run alright ;)
Red Devil (Duncan's Monaro) has got some serious hp... best of 126mph has got to say something. We squared up in a qualifier and I got to the finish first... only because Dunc was "asleep" at the tree :D. We got paired up again in the DYO (not by choice ;)) but this time he spanked me (no snoozing on this occasion)... 1.66 60' from a car that is not set up for drags. Well Done Dunc, excellent pedalling. Unfortunately for him, he broke out, having dialled in 11.64, but ran a pb of 11.50 @ 122. He left the tree after me, caught me very early on with a top class 0.4548 r/t (perfect light at Heathcote is 0.400), & just drove away. At least he made it count :bravo: .
I managed a pb of 11.82 @ 118mph, which is not earth-moving, but I'll take it. Red lit in the final of LSSR to Leatherman with his LBT: I dialled in 11.80, ran 11.85 @ 120.5mph, but obviously automatically lost. He dialled 11.28, so I thought that if I got a good light, he would have had a hard time catching me. I did a 0.328 r/t :headbang:. Was doing 0.4xx for most of the w/e but cracked in the final.
Couldn't get the et down to what I was hoping for, but at least the mph shows that the car was performing :bravo: , even if the driver was not :headbang: .
Massive thanks to the Russo Brothers for getting the car (s) ready. No major mechanical issues were encountered. Drove down Friday morning, raced Friday afternoon/night, raced Saturday, & drove back today, nothing broken :D. Can't argue with that. I am sure Justin & Christian will tell of the GTS's adventures in Renegade class ;). I think they received "toughest street car" award.

Good luck with the 9 man. Very close.
:yep: Duncan's Monaro. Got a Russo Performance built 438ci!
WOW. What a weekend!
The event was very well organised, congratulations to Tuna and Heathcote dragway. And great to see so many workshops front up to throw the gauntlet down to put on a great show.
So many tough LS1's in the same location, it was just awesome.
It was my first time at Heathcote; the atmosphere down there is something else. Worlds apart from Sydney; it's like stepping back in time to about 1970. The rules, regs and officials are quite relaxed. Not to mention the rocket cars incinerating old cars! Somehow the world doesnt implode and it all just works.. I still can't believe we made it down there, boy do I have some stories to tell about our trip! (thats another story)
The Russo boys did a FANTASTIC job building my 438 motor. It was about a week before the Nats I left my car with Russo... WAAAY too close (for me) but they assured me it would be ready. And boy did they deliver.. Suffice to say they rolled the monaro off the hoist 11pm Thursday (Sydney) and we were racing at Heathcote just 17 hours later. Car didnt miss a beat. My first run felt insane; @ 125mph it was awesome, the motor spun up so much faster than my H/C 346. We ended up running 11.5s and 126mph. I was running M/T ET Streets with "space saver" radial front runners. Otherwise full weight; 3/4 fuel tank and spare and jack in the car. I think with a little drag specific setup we are going to achieve the objective sooner rather than later (can you guess what that is?)
Did I mention it was a veritable TurboFest! So many turbo cars down there, and great to watch T KIWI with his frst drag racing - with a TT 402 no less! Well done mate.
Erik running 120mph with the Russo H/C was simply stunning also; and in the LSSR final no less.
And the Russo Performance (Sergen) GTS taking out the toughest street car trophy!
I have a few pics and lots of in-car video from Erik, the Russo GTS and my car to post up over the next few days. And a few pics too.
I am going to pass out now (been driving all day) but before i do, would also like to say it was great to put faces to so many of the forum regulars, everyone was so friendy. And a huge thankyou to the Russo mob, way beyond the call of duty guys, champions.

It's just dawned on me.... on your 'drive down' on Friday, not only did you run the new motor in... you must have tuned it on the trip down as well???
If yes... that makes your results even more fantastic!!! and BTW, when was Erik's car tuned with the new heads? I hope that wasn't on the way down to Heatcote as well!!!
And Dunc.... circuit day in May.... then drag specific setup and run a 10 (and get booted!) from the TrackChat private day?

Yes Allan, he is the son with no fear, lol, I broke his Torana race car so its cool for him to try to break the tonner.
Seriously though he has always been the better half of the tonner team.

Russo put a safe base tune in for the trip down, Chris did some logging on the trip down, but dialed in the WOT tune at the test and tune friday. Part throttle and idle need some work (no time for that!). Erik got his car back a few days prior so there was time for the tune. I believe Erik has some pretty amazing Syd~Melbourne fuel economy results to report too. I am not too sure about drag setup atm, so many of the cars (at Heathcote) were stripped and/or drag suspension, not sure I want to go that far, in two minds about that. Full weight cars just don't stand much of a chance really, not for outright numbers anyway.

Any other NSW results?
We know about Kiwi, Dunc and Erik with 2 K's ... did Adam make the trip or anyone else from NSW ? (Anyone of significance that is ... :D)
To deface the red devil and push it too far towards drag dedicated setup would be sacrilige Dunc, why bother when you can do what you've done with little more than changing the tyres? 120+ mp/h with your current arrangement carries more cred IMO.

Al, Justin & Christian tuned my car in the days leading up to our departure. They didn't tinker with it when we were there... no time. I think they did a fantastic job... 120mph. Got nobody to blame for the stuff-up in the final but myself. But was nice to make it anyway. Cheers.

The Russo Performance GTS ran a 10.02 i think (guys what mph?) regardless they are a ways from their target. Some setup to do as you will see from the video i will post up soon. It looks like Justin was piloting a Jet boat! They certainly have gobs of power, I believe they are working on the setup now. If Sergen woudl let them take the weight out they would be at the pointy end for sure.

It's a full on race car with a 4 link rear end. Engine is a CI stroker running a (big!) Vortec blower. He's done a beautiful job (it's a red Monaro shell. I'll put up a photo tomorrow).
Yep, 170 mph half track! I've read that it was a converter problem (engine over-powering the converter) so over-revving. Sean hasn't put up a post yet so it's all 2nd/3rd hand info.

Soon it will be a scientific fact about the stickers.
Funny you should mention the Pajero, last time I was at Calder (Mar this year), there was someone running a standard 4WD, pretty sure it was an X-Trail (could be wrong though) ran twice both high 17s IIRC. My old commodore used to run 16 flat and I thought it flew back then :lmao:
so the Pajero may have broken 18.

and why do you 'purge' NOS? (and Justin, how many times did you back off the gas in that run?) Was the track the issue or did you have a setup issue? It seemed to still be 'skating' as you went over the line!

Hi Allan it was a bit of a crazy ride big traction issues. That was the first time on a track with the new motor and we should have changed the diff gears this engine revs up so much faster you can see in the vid that the shift light is on for most of the run reving it way past red line. The track is know were as good as wsid but it was alot of fun and worth the trip
the nos spray out the bonnet it to get any air out of the line so the nos is right up to the solenoids, my mate was there to tell me cause i always forget to purge.

Justin, thanks for that, it makes sense. It's a shame that it's maiden run was so far from home, I suspect one pass at WSID before the Nats would have provided enough info for you guys to have been much more competitive. Well done in any case, you guys did an awesome job with all three cars in the time available, congratulations.

Awesome vid. Dunc. Congrats Justin & Christian, some serious weapons you have created there. Well done on the final K, better luck next year. Thanks for the videos & pics guys.
TrackChat presence next year sounds like a plan ... any interest in getting the cars shipped down and jumping on a plane ???

It was the way to go alright, we had really good carrying firm, where the fleet owner himself transported our cars with out a hitch, and a decent sort of fellow who was quite interested in the event.
We booked cheap airfares ahead of time, so it worked out just perfect.
Cheers.
