what a pig the ute is now after removing the pacey4-1s, no bottom end, no mid range, no top end and worst of all no sound. ive put std holden cast jobbies on for my turbo build and what a difference it has made for the worse. its heaps quiter now and has no meaty rumble to it:( . luke and i have tuned it to suit the mods that i had so it could probably do with a tuch up now but as ive got bigger plans that are under way atm there is know point.
going backwards for the short time is a small price to pay for the amount of gain that will be had over the next couple of months.

Personally I would drop the timing back a smidge up top say 0.60g/cyl and up and since you have the PLX permanently wired up do 2-3 15-20min drives to 'touch-up' the fuelling, might find you get some of the losses back.
Brilliant opportunity to sus out more as you go too :)
I cannot wait to see the thing with the twins fitted.
BTW - You did the tuning, I was your pedal boy :yep:
Are you going to tackle the 2-bar yourself :up2sum: I think you should

Be my pleasure - then we can enjoy
I am thinking dyno for WOT - unless of course 200+ is an option :j/k:

Having been a turbo LS1 owner for 18 months or so, I really wonder what it would be like going back to stock.
I keep thinking "oh, it wouldn't be that bad surely".
But geez, you're being affect by just getting rid of the 4-1's ... I'd hate to think what your withdrawel symptoms will be like once you've gotten used to FI

Seedy, I know what you mean. When at the local dealer I had a look at the new Commo's and of course a zealous salesman wanted to flog me 'something'.... I asked him for a test drive in one that made 600 plus Hp... he walked away shaking his head!!!

Trust me seedy ... it is that bad.
If I spend any time at all in the Coupe anything else feels terrible. Sonny rang me after I picked up the GTS ... "how does it feel" ... I replied, "all right I guess, I've been in the Coupe for a month so to be honest it feels pretty average" ... the SS feels even worse. However, after a few days it all fells kinda normal again.
I can't imagine what stock would feel like.

hey alan i brought my own hptuners software just befor christmas for my own a bit of fun. i factored what it would cost me to get tunes done on my calais and my maloo and it was going to cost way to much compared to what i can do the tune for myself, plus ive got the ability to change it when ever i want with out costing me anything. i didnt go gun ho though i also have a wideband in my ute for tuning so as not to seriously stuff things up. i done a fair bit of reading and practicing with the software to get me going and with some help from luke he showed me some easier ways to go about it. at the che dyno day the maloo pulled 3 runs bettween 236.5 - 237.6 rwkw with just pacey 1 5/8 4-1s, difillipo dual 2.5" cat back, one of sonnys orrsom otr's and a custom home tune with some tips from luke. we wernt expecting that result as it wasnt finished and dale also said it still had a bit left in it with some touch ups. guess ill never know as the paceys are gone and construction has begun on the tt kit.
cheers tim

its going to be interesting seedy as my calais goes allright but when the ute goes tt its going to be like an excel in comparison.
i all ready feel funny driving the calais as it feels like a big soft longe chair compared to the maloo's coulsens which hug me tightly and with the frim suspenion its a massive contrast.

yeah, I was just interested on who's software you guys decided to use. Mine's been tuned with EFI Live by Sonny though I know Dale uses HP Tuners for tuning his own turbo car.
Sonny also uses HP Tuners for some applications I think.... not sure what. I've been thinking for ages about buying the 'cut down' version of EFI Live for logging purposes but have never gotten around to it. On the dyno day, Dale noticed I had a problem with my boost controller, still haven't gotten to the bottom of that either..... though 8.5 PSI is still plenty for the street! If I'd been logging it, I'd have been aware of what's going on. With my medical treatment happening (and associated loss of income$$$$'s!) the poor old car has been sadly neglected of late.

certainly a great tool to invest in for tuning or even for scanning. id highly recommend it. you can buy the whole tuning software for around $1000. sonny tunes with efi live as far as i know and uses hptuners for ls2 and possiblly all the new 6ltr stuff. last i heard hpt was the only one compatible with the ls2 but not sure bout the l76 or l98. efi live might be doing all of them now for all i know. good features for both. but if your just interested in scanning then the efi live scan tool seperate would be the cheapest way to do it.
