hey guys.
last night i had an absolute ball, went to eastern creek kart on the long circuit for thier gran prix package for a mates bday.
all up i came 4th with a best lap time of 50.11 sec around their longer track configuration. we were also in the souped up 13hp karts
what i was wondering is what anyone else got around the track, cos the guys ahead of me had a few laps just below 50sec and the guy who won actually had a few 48sec laps.
i was driving as hard as i could and i was getting consistent lap times, all between 50.11 sec and 51.80 sec, but i just couldnt catch them.
i am putting it down to wieght , cos i wiegh nearly 100kg and the other guys were all feather wieghts. lol well thats my excuse anyway.
let me know what you guys think anyway.
dave
I've done the longer track but cant remember the times. There is huge variability between karts too. Some are absolutely crap.

I haven't been for a few years so can't remember times but as i'm also about 100kg, i do remember getting overtaken by smaller people so i reckon weight is a big factor.

Just had a look back through my old spreadsheeets... did a 48.21 on the long track in 2004. That was in a 1 hour grand prix. Consistent 48s, worst time was a low 49.
You're right, quality of karts, and weight of driver makes a massive difference.

No idea ... but I do remember that it was 1/100th faster than lautray, and that was all I was interested in.

Some scrawny little bugger beat me at the karting day we had after the Castle Hill dyno day... But the best fun was when the rain came and we were still out, i must have done about three 360's...

lol well i really want to go again,
will have to save up some money again cos its fairly expensive for me.
but i had a ball, hopefully it still going to be fresh in my mind so i will be able to get a faster lap time then before, hopefully into the 49 sec bracket would be good haha, might need to shed some more weight haha.
im keen for another day if anyone else is???

I'm keen! Also wouldnt mind visiting the Picton track one Sunday morning again... drive through nasho, breakfast at Thirroul, blast up Bulli pass, across to picton, karts, then back to Sydney for lunchtime!

Picton isn't a better track, it's a bit smaller, karts are probably on par if not a bit slower, but it's a nice drive and a better atmosphere I reckon, plus its cheaper. Definitely worth it for the cruise too.
