Radials in terms of drag racing means they are of the same construction as a street tyre, they have a stiff sidewall and the same material and properties as a conventional street tyre albeit with a much softer compound.
They are DOT approved which makes them legal for the street in the US.
We will be using radials in our new car purely for the additional challenge it will provide..not because it will be anywhere street legal.
Much of the peverted reason to purposely limit traction comes from the fact i've always liked events like the 'power tour' in the states where they drive over 1000 miles and visit 10+ race tracks in a couple of weeks...then run sevens
Also the time to beat on slicks for et & mph is probably 3's & 330mph+....8's is much easier!
Mostly though it's about having some fun...we'll be limited by a GM 4L60E, irs and a lack of driving talent on my behalf...radials seem like the most sensible choice yet!
